    Chapter 30 – Toronto – The Move

Pierce:  No, I’m fine. Thank you for that wonderful breakfast.  I believe I’ll go out and introduce myself to the construction supervisor.

Bette:  Well, here are the keys to the house and the keys to the vehicles are on that rack behind the hats over there beside the door going into the garage.

Bette then goes to the laundry room and starts shifting dry clothes to a basket, wet clothes from the washer to the dryer and then starts a new load. She then starts to fold the dry clothes. Tina cleaned up the kitchen.

Bette and Tina then dressed in their clothes and fixed their make-up and hair for the trip. They completed their packing and straighten the bedroom. They make sure they have their billfolds, passports and keys. They both then take their two pieces of luggage each down stairs to be loaded in the car. The larger piece will be checked and the smaller piece will be carried on. They had packed mostly casual clothes with a couple of sweaters and carried their heavy winter coats. In the carry-ons, they had a change of clothes, pajamas and their make-up and shower kits. They both decided to take a pair of boots in case they needed to do any walking in the snow.

Tina: Winter clothes just take up more room than summer clothes.

Bette:  Yeah. Feels strange to be carrying this heavy winter coat here in LA.

There was a knock on the front door.  Pierce stood up and went to the door. The car had arrived a little early.

Pierce: Bette and Tina, the car is here. I’m going to help with your luggage.

Pierce and the driver grabbed two pieces of luggage each and carried them to the car.  Bette and Tina emerged from the laundry room and the office with their purses in hand. And headed for the door.

Driver:  Good morning – two for LAX?

Bette:  Yes, please.  You’re a tad early.

Driver:  I need to get you to the airport on time. You never know about the traffic particularly this close to rush hour.

Tina:  Pierce take care and let us know if you need anything. Come on sweetheart. Let’s get this show on the road.

    Bette:  Thanks Pierce. Take care….

    1. What a surprising ending, Bette asking Tina to be her wife again.
Is it to soon? if it feels right for both of them, time doesn’t matter.

They have packed Tina’s stuff and are ready to move in a new direction, new jobs and looking for a new beach house.

    2. Bibi,

I actually am glad that you were surprised. Is it too soon? I guess it depends on how you feel about these two. Bette and Tina have taken the time to reestablish their relationship. They have a reasonable understanding of what happened to break them up. Tina made the effort to come back and did it voluntarily. They are both older, mature women who know who they, I believe know each other, as well as any two people can know each other. Life has it limits and sometimes, you have to accept that there are risks in every decision you make. Tina has displayed that she is willing to do whatever it takes to be with Angie, and she loves Bette.

The choice to me for both of them is really rather simple. Take this opportunity to make a life together or say goodbye forever. If things do not turn out perfectly? Well, I guess that’s life. But in the eyes of my Bette and my Tina, it is better to have tried and lose than never to try at all.

      Thanks for reading…

    3. Well, well, well …. A marriage proposal!
      I can’t say I’m surprised.
Tina really has several all ties with her past, with Carrie and with her job with Showtime. She set out to do this, she knew she wanted it, so made her plan and carried it through perfectly.

All the time Bette was by her side, encouraging her but not pressing or pressuring her. Making sure this was really what Tina wanted.

This more than NY I think was more probably more emotional for Tina, cos she now knows, everything is done and she just has to concentrate on her new life with Bette and Angie, her new job and looking for the perfect beach house for their future together.

Angie and Shane are going to be blown away by this news ….. perfect timing, I think !!

    4. Most who have read this story have said they were surprised by the marriage proposal. I think that both Bette and Tina are somewhat surprised themselves. Not something Bette planned but felt that it was the right thing to do.

These two women are a pair of equals in their relationship. They are the left and right arm of the couple. Will they never have problems? Doubtful. There will always be something which will rub one the wrong way. But they have a plan on how to work those bumps, stops and starts out. They now have sufficient information and commitment and love to go forward with A New Life.
