Chapter 30 – Toronto – The Move

The plane left on time. Bette and Tina had coffee in their first-class seats and had refuse the alcohol beverage service. The flight attendant said that lunch would be served shortly after the plane had reached cruising altitude since traditionally on long flights, most people preferred to eat and then nap.
The food was served about 45 minutes after take-off and was a good quality meal of small quantities. It consisted of a bake chicken and rice with some green beans and a small salad. The dessert was cheesecake. Bette and Tina both had water and some coffee with their meal.
Once they had their trays removed the adjusted their seats so they could sleep. They made themselves as comfortable as they could and proceeded to sleep. The lights in the cabin were dimed and the shade over the window had been drawn.
They were awakened by the seatbelt belt sign notifying the cabin that the plane was in its final approach to land. Both Bette and Tina were now in need of to relieve their full bladders however, the flight attendant told them that they would probably be on the ground in ten minutes. And since they were in first class, they would be first allowed off the plane. Once in the terminal, they would find the first available lady’s room. Needless to say, they were well motivated to get their belongings and get off the plane in a hurry.
Once they were off the plane, they saw a lady’s room and made a bee line to it. Bette and Tina picked adjacent stalls and could hear the strong stream of water that was leaving their bodies. Both felt much better afterward and then proceeded to baggage claim and then to customs and then to the taxi stand.
They took a cab to the downtown area where Tina’s apartment was located. The apartment was in a medium economic area and was not what one would expect an award-winning executive producer would live. Tina explained that she found the apartment her first year on the job and found that it had a reasonable rent and a reasonable amount of space and conveniences which suited her needs. At the time, she had no idea the job would last as long as it did nor the fact that her income would substantially increase over the contracted salary amount she had sign on for. But once she had it furnished, she never considered upgrading her home because she was then living with Carrie in New York during her hiatus. Even though Tina spent more of her life in residence in Toronto, she considered New York her home.

What a surprising ending, Bette asking Tina to be her wife again.
Is it to soon? if it feels right for both of them, time doesn’t matter.
They have packed Tina’s stuff and are ready to move in a new direction, new jobs and looking for a new beach house.

I actually am glad that you were surprised. Is it too soon? I guess it depends on how you feel about these two. Bette and Tina have taken the time to reestablish their relationship. They have a reasonable understanding of what happened to break them up. Tina made the effort to come back and did it voluntarily. They are both older, mature women who know who they, I believe know each other, as well as any two people can know each other. Life has it limits and sometimes, you have to accept that there are risks in every decision you make. Tina has displayed that she is willing to do whatever it takes to be with Angie, and she loves Bette.
The choice to me for both of them is really rather simple. Take this opportunity to make a life together or say goodbye forever. If things do not turn out perfectly? Well, I guess that’s life. But in the eyes of my Bette and my Tina, it is better to have tried and lose than never to try at all.

Well, well, well …. A marriage proposal!
I can’t say I’m surprised.
Tina really has several all ties with her past, with Carrie and with her job with Showtime. She set out to do this, she knew she wanted it, so made her plan and carried it through perfectly.
All the time Bette was by her side, encouraging her but not pressing or pressuring her. Making sure this was really what Tina wanted.
This more than NY I think was more probably more emotional for Tina, cos she now knows, everything is done and she just has to concentrate on her new life with Bette and Angie, her new job and looking for the perfect beach house for their future together.
Angie and Shane are going to be blown away by this news ….. perfect timing, I think !!
Most who have read this story have said they were surprised by the marriage proposal. I think that both Bette and Tina are somewhat surprised themselves. Not something Bette planned but felt that it was the right thing to do.
These two women are a pair of equals in their relationship. They are the left and right arm of the couple. Will they never have problems? Doubtful. There will always be something which will rub one the wrong way. But they have a plan on how to work those bumps, stops and starts out. They now have sufficient information and commitment and love to go forward with A New Life.
