    Chapter 34 – Strike One

The sea-foam green Italian porcelain-tiled floor added a little color to the cloud-like environment of the home. The entryway spilled into a step-down den area which was framed by three low, armless contemporary sofas. Placed in the middle of the room was a large white porcelain coffee table with a shiny lacquer finish that was also low to the ground. The table’s sole occupant was a single white orchid in a stainless steel planter.

The longest of the three sofas faced what appeared to be a built-in flat screen television, flush with the wall that framed it.

To the right of the den was a sitting area of two white leather squared club chairs that rotated 360 degrees in front of a floor to ceiling glass window that overlooked the water of Santa Monica Bay.

Bette and the band were speechless, and afraid to touch anything for fear of ruining the purity of the spotless interior. Just past the living area they could see the balcony which appeared to be suspended in midair just above the infinity pool. The deck tables and chairs were also white and shaded underneath white cloth umbrellas. A delicious looking Italian buffet was set up on the outside tables for them.

“I hope you folks like Italian. I picked up a few dishes from Tra di Noi.”

Open mouths and wide eyes were plentiful as the group of friends was trying to fathom the type of lifestyle they were being exposed to.

“So how many band-job placements did it take to afford this piece of real estate?” asked the ever-curious Alice.

Bette glared at Alice for being so nosey. “Alice, mind your manners,” she scolded.

Jodi chuckled. “The music business has been extremely good to me, Alice. I have no doubts that it could be just as good to you guys. But why don’t we step outside and eat lunch before we talk business, what do you say?”

Lunch was certainly quite a spread. The band had their choice of salads, seafood, risottos, and various pasta dishes, most of which were vegetarian-friendly.

They all relaxed and slipped into comfortable and casual conversations about L.A. restaurants, famous guitarists, recent movies, and favorite vacation spots.

    Tina’s House

Tina was going over the schedule of shows the street team had outlined for the coming week while last week’s live show of “The Voice” played in the background.

    1. Funny how a new love can occupy one’s mind. Tina is really having it bad :-)
Good for Bette that she doesn’t take the bait with Tina’s alleged ex lovers. At least not now in front of Jodie.

It’s great how you take forward the band’s story as well as the T + B story.
