Chapter 38 – Last Week at Redondo Beach
Bette: I’m so very happy. This is a wonderful house. I love you.
Tina: Come on. Let’s go lock up and go get our food. We have a lot to do tomorrow.
Bette: Am I driving? We are going to Santa Marias’ Mexican Restaurant on Lincoln.
Tina: That is on the way. I love you sweetie.
Bette and Tina went around and checked all the doors and found all of them locked. Bette put the suitcase in the back seat with the two robes and then got in and buckled her seat belt. Sitting down felt good. Once at the restaurant, she got out and went in and got their food.
Bette: They sold me the beer and you know? They didn’t even ask for my ID. I’m disappointed.
Tina: Sweetie, I don’t think you can pass for someone under 21 even in your most fanciful dreams.
Bette: Yeah, I know. Oh, this smells good.
They pulled into the garage and Tina shut the door behind the car. They entered the Tina’s private quarters directly from the garage. Tina put the suitcase and the robes on the sofa and then directed Bette to the kitchen. Tina washed her hands and then got out two plates, some flatware and pulled off some paper towels. Bette put two of the beers in the fridge and noticed there was some food in it. Tina started divvying out the food. Bette opened two of the beers and took a seat and waited for her plate. They sat down and began to eat. It tasted wonderful.
Bette: You are right. Eating first is the thing to do.
Tina: The temperature okay for you in here? I can make it a little cooler if you like.
Bette: I’m fine right now, but if you want it cooler just adjust the temperature. If it gets too cool, it’s a good excuse to cuddle into you, Miss Hot Body.
Tina: That food was good. Hit the spot.
Bette: Okay, let’s go get settled. I need a shower. Would you like to join me?
Tina: Yeah, but let’s pull the bed out first. I’ll go hang our tomorrow clothes up. The towels are in the cabinet. And there is a hook to hang the robes up on behind the door.
