Chapter 4
“Thank you Marcus. Thank you for understanding and being so considerate.”
“After seeing him out I just leaned back against the front door and took a few deep breaths. I couldn’t understand why I reacted the way I did. Maybe it was just the shock of his appearance. I mean I didn’t know what to expect. All our other potential donors were men we both knew or at least were acquainted with.”
“What did you do after he left?”
“I immediately called Bette. She’d told me she wasn’t free until after 2pm and it was barely 11:45 but I didn’t pay attention to the time. It just frustrated me more when I couldn’t reach her.”
“I’m sorry Michael. She did tell me that. I just didn’t pay attention to the time.”
“Tina is everything OK? Is there an emergency because if there is I can interrupt her. She would have my hide if something happened to you and …”
“Michael relax. I’m fine. It’s not an emergency. We just have something really important to discuss and I’d like her to come home early if possible.”
“I think that can be arranged. She knew she’d be exhausted after meeting with the board so her afternoon is clear.”
“OK just let her know that I called and that I will be waiting for her at home. Thank you Michael. Good bye.”
“Bye Tina.”
“Bette got home around 3:00pm that afternoon. I was sitting outside by the pool in one of the loungers.”
“Tee what’s going on? I got this vague but urgent message from Michael to come home. Are you OK? Did something happen with Marcus?”
Tina spun around to face Bette who had taken a seat on the lounge chair next to her. She gritted her teeth as she made a futile effort to contain her anger.
“You put me in a fucking awkward position today Bette. How could you not tell me that Marcus Allenwood is Black?”
Bette is surprised by the tone and taken aback by the attack.
“God, I … I don’t know. I guess I should have. I just didn’t think that it would be a problem for you to use a Black donor.”
“I didn’t say I didn’t want a Black donor?”

Ouch this story hurts. I love it
Wow, now things get worst, there is a man in the scene, who Tina doesn’t even know in flesh. I could think on the traumatic year they had, has affected Tina in the way that she is rejecting many things she had with Bette; deep down she knows she love her wife, but she feels manipulated by her, and Bette wants to get things done and behaves as a control freak. Again miscommunication and self-centeredness is the problem. I like how you take them down in this story, I wondering when they will touch bottom and how is going to be the mending fences part. Now, Tina has made a mistake, apparently she left the laptop on, and got distracted with Alice; if Bette arrives first, she may see the e-mails on the laptop and it’s not going to be pretty for Tina. I like this story, and as painful as it is I’m glad you are updating every day, so, the agony is short. Thanks again and pps
It’s great to have you back posting BAT even though you are breaking my heart with the storyline.
I will, of course, keep reading in the believe that Tibette will triumph in the end.
Thanks and post again soon.
