Chapter 4
***
The next morning Marcus Allenwood comes to the house as planned. Tina opened the door and couldn’t hide her stunned reaction. She stared up at him for a few long seconds then snapped out of it and invited him in. Tina politely asked if he wanted anything to drink or eat. He made himself comfortable in the living room while she prepared the coffee he’d requested accompanied by some fruit and pastries.
“Fuck, fuck fuck … damn you Bette” she swears when she enters the kitchen then takes a few minutes to compose herself before returning to the living room. Marcus is walking around admiring the art in the tastefully decorated home and is pleased to see one of his own pieces prominently displayed. Tina hadn’t made the connection before but now realized that Marcus was the artist of one of her favorite pieces in Bette’s private art collection.
Marcus towered over Tina from his 6’4” height. His gentle nature and bright smile belied the intimating physique of the ex-football player who had gotten as far as semi-pro before an injury caused him to leave the game. The end of his football career gave him time to pursue his other passion; creating art. Marcus and Tina made polite conversation about the painting but he sensed her uneasiness. Being pretty astute, he was sure he knew why Tina was feeling the discomfiture so he decides to just get it in the open.
“Tina did Bette not tell you I was Black?”
“No. Not at all but I mean she didn’t not tell me because it doesn’t matter. Right?”
“Well I can’t answer that for you.”
“No. No you can’t. Listen Marcus you seem like a really nice guy but Bette just sprung this on me last night. I agreed to meet you but … I’m sorry I just can’t do this right now. Bette and I need to talk.”
Marcus didn’t take offense. He could see Tina’s discomfort and he didn’t want to add to it by being belligerent. That just wasn’t his style.
“That’s fine Tina. I understand. I’ll tell you what. Why don’t I keep the appointment at the Cryobank. If you and Bette decide you don’t want to use the specimen no harm done; if you do at least you can have it tested. If all goes well just send me the paperwork and I will sign over parental rights. I wish you both the best and I hope everything works out for you.”

Ouch this story hurts. I love it
Wow, now things get worst, there is a man in the scene, who Tina doesn’t even know in flesh. I could think on the traumatic year they had, has affected Tina in the way that she is rejecting many things she had with Bette; deep down she knows she love her wife, but she feels manipulated by her, and Bette wants to get things done and behaves as a control freak. Again miscommunication and self-centeredness is the problem. I like how you take them down in this story, I wondering when they will touch bottom and how is going to be the mending fences part. Now, Tina has made a mistake, apparently she left the laptop on, and got distracted with Alice; if Bette arrives first, she may see the e-mails on the laptop and it’s not going to be pretty for Tina. I like this story, and as painful as it is I’m glad you are updating every day, so, the agony is short. Thanks again and pps
It’s great to have you back posting BAT even though you are breaking my heart with the storyline.
I will, of course, keep reading in the believe that Tibette will triumph in the end.
Thanks and post again soon.
