(Bette) You look beautiful tonight

(Tina smiles) Thank you, you look as amazing as always

They both have a sip of wine.

(Bette) So, where to next?

(Tina smiles) I have an idea

(Bette smiles) There’s that look again

Tina laughs.

(Tina) How do you feel about Jet Skis?

Bette smiles.

(Bette) I can’t say I’ve ever tried it. You have before?

(Tina) Yes, a few times. I was talking to a woman at the hotel who recommended hiring one in Cala d’Or. I’d be very responsible, we can just travel along slowly. It could be fun?

(Bette smiles) Sure

Tina smiles at her.

(Tina) That was easier than I thought it was going to be

(Bette smiles) Well it’s actually something I wouldn’t mind trying

(Tina smiles) Well ok then

Tina has another sip of wine and Bette watches her for a moment, feeling more brazen than usual.

(Bette) I have an idea too

Tina raises her eyebrows and smiles at her.

(Tina) OK

(Bette) I know you don’t like questions about home, but I thought maybe I could try a different approach

Tina looks at her with an uncertain smile.

(Tina) You could try. Are you trying to take advantage of my being a little inebriated?

Bette smiles and raises her hands.

(Bette) Feel free not to answer

(Tina smiles) OK

Bette smiles at her for a moment before proceeding.

(Bette) Tell me something about yourself that I don’t know

Tina smiles and considers the question.

(Tina) There’s quite a lot you don’t know

(Bette) I know

They smile at each other and Tina has a sip of her drink.

(Tina smiles) OK

Bette raises her eyebrows and waits for her to continue.

(Tina) Well, I’m the youngest of three children

Bette smiles.

(Tina) I come from a family of lawyers and politicians in North Carolina

Bette continues smiling at her, enjoying hearing anything more about Tina’s background.

(Tina) And I once spent several nights in jail after a misunderstanding involving a stolen police car

Bette laughs and considers her for a moment.

(Bette) Is that the Nepal story?

(Tina laughs) Yes! Oh God I was sworn to secrecy about that, my friend would kill me

Bette smiles at her.

(Tina) Your turn

(Bette) Hmmm, OK

Bette thinks for a moment.

(Bette) I have an older sister

Tina smiles at her and has a sip of wine.

(Bette) I was raised by my father

Tina takes this in and watches her closely.

(Bette) And I have a tattoo I don’t think you’ve found yet

Tina smiles at her with widened eyes.

(Tina) How is that possible?

Bette has a sip of wine and looks at her over her glass with a sly smile.

(Bette) Am I wrong?

Tina shakes her head, still smiling.

(Tina) You’re not wrong, I’ve seen no tattoo

Bette smiles smugly and Tina continues looking at her, biting her lip.

(Tina) We need to leave immediately

Bette laughs.

(Tina) I’m not joking. Grab your bag, I’ll get the bill on the way out

Tina rises from the table and smiles over her shoulder at Bette as she heads towards the bar to pay their tab. Bette laughs as she has her last sip of wine and reaches for her bag.
