Chapter 6 – Day 5 at the Beach

Tina: Good morning Bette; Now be good and I will see you later.
Bette put on a pouty face as Tina turned to leave.
Tina: No pouting now. I’ll see you downstairs… Love you.
Bette: Love you too.
Bette got up and headed for the bathroom.
Tina went to the kitchen to start the sauce which she was going to be used for the chicken parmesan. She immediately poured large quantities of tomatoes sauce, tomato puree and finely chopped tomatoes into a pot. She then crushed four cloves of garlic, added salt and pepper, oregano and a little sugar into the pot. She put it on simmer and started slicing the squash which would be necessary for the fried squash. Once that was complete, Tina pulled out a huge stew pot to start the soup. She had four pounds of ground beef and began to brown it in a skillet. She then cut up two large onions and browned those in a skillet. She then drained the beef of excess fat and put into the large pot, then adding the onions.
Bobbie: What can I do to help?
Tina: In the supply room, I need six cans of shoepeg corn, four cans of chopped tomatoes, 2 cans of tomatoes with green peppers, 2 cans of black beans, 2 cans of white beans and 2 cans of red beans. Start opening those and dump them into the soup pot. Today we are going to have Southwestern Bean Soup for lunch. Tomorrow we are going to have chicken pot pies for lunch.
Tina went and retrieved four packages of mild taco mix and four packages of ranch dressing mix. She then opened them and dumped them into the soup pot. She mixed the pots contents and then retrieved an 2nd can opener and began to assist Bobbie with opening and adding the other ingredients. After they had finish with the can goods, Tina added two cans of water to the mix and place the pot on low heat.
Tina: Now I need a boat oar to stir this pot.
Bobbie looked to find a sturdy spoon. Tina stirred the sauce and it was coming along nicely. Tina decided to proceed with preparing the linguine and the chicken.
