    Chapter 6 – Move on

    Bette couldn’t help but grin
”I don’t think I’ve ever been more relaxed in the last 5 years than I was yesterday. If you know what I mean»

”Oh, I saw it. Are you feeling all right today?»

”In the morning I felt that I was no longer 25 years old, but in general everything was quite normal»
Bette continued to eat the pasta

”Bette, I’d like to tell you something now. If you don’t want to hear anything and just want to rest, then tell me»

    ”No, it’s okay. Speak»

Bette made a hand gesture that meant Tina could start talking

    ”Okay»
    Tina exhaled heavily and began
”Carrie and I broke up last night. I told her about our night together…”

Bette stopped eating and opened her mouth a little. She had expected anything but this. Definitely not this and not now.

”Other than that, I wanted to say that…”
Tina didn’t have time to finish when she felt Bette’s hand, which wasn’t covering her own

”But what were you doing at the restaurant together this afternoon?”
Bette’s voice was very low and soft.

”She asked me to come and say my last words. We talked and tonight she flew to Canada. Bette, I understand that this doesn’t mean anything to our relationship, and it’s not appropriate to talk about it right now. I’m fully aware that I hurt you, and the last time I hurt you was recently. I don’t ask for anything, and I certainly don’t insist on anything. I just wanted you to know that, because I think it’s important. I respect any of your…”
Tina’s speech was Stopped by an unexpected kiss. What? A kiss? Now? Yes, it was Bette’s light, timid, and hesitant gesture. It was absolutely not demanding. It was more like the first-ever kiss Angie had told about today. She was so cute. Without a hint of anything more. Just a touch of the lips. Tina felt such unmistakable love in this.

Such true tenderness. She felt no resentment toward Bette, no anger. She felt all the kindness of her ex-wife in that kiss. After 5 seconds, the kiss stopped. Bette jerked away from Tina.

    ”I’m sorry…”
Not Bette looked Tina in the eye. She tried to find the words, because she didn’t expect it.

    ”It’s okay, Bette.”
Tina’s neck flushed a little. From excitement? Or was it the excitement she felt every time she saw Bette? This is not something that most couples who have lived together for so many years can boast of.

    ”I don’t think it’s okay, Tina. I do not think so»
Bette was getting nervous. She picked up a plate and a glass with some lemon water left in it and went into the kitchen. She stood there for a few seconds, then returned to Tina.

”When are you leaving for Toronto?”

”I’m leaving tomorrow night. I don’t know for how long, the show’s production is ending now and we’re going to have a huge PR campaign, so…”

    ”Oh… I got it This is excellent»
Bette smiled and nodded, but the smile didn’t reach her eyes

    ”Bette…”

    ”Nope, it’s fine. I’m fine”

”Well, okay. I think I should go to the hotel.”

”Yes, you’re leaving tomorrow, you need to get some sleep»

    ”Yeah, I’m leaving”

”Yeah… well, thank you for having dinner with Angie. She was happy to be with you”

    ”Me too»
Tina looked at Bette and realized that neither of them was thinking about Angie at all. But no one was going to talk about it now. They didn’t have the resources to do it. There were no accurate forecasts. They briefly embraced as Bette walked Tina out.

    Bette went home.

    Tina went to the hotel.

They both thought about each other, but they couldn’t be together for many, many deep reasons.

    1. Wow! You keep it rolling. At least, Tina finally summoned the courage to tell Carrie and Carrie was civil. Tina didn’t need to get married. Talk about a train wreck. I feel so badly for Bette.

    2. Thank you for the chapter!

Carrie – bye ! – i think you were a good person but unfortunately fell in love with person who still was in love with her ex-wife. And i also like that Tina find the courage talked to her and tell her the truth.

And i hope Tina not leaving to Toronto without another conversation with Bette, so waiting for the next!

    3. At least Tina talked honestly with Carrie. It seems Carrie was not surprised and even expected it. I too hope Bette and Tina have another conversation before Tina goes to Toronto. Bette still does not know that Tina had accepted a proposal from Carrie. That is a pretty significant detail to leave out when telling Bette that they broke up. And Tina does not think her night with Bette was a mistake but this is another detail that Bette is not privy to. I hope Bette does not take on any guilt for Tina and Carrie breaking up. I know Tina is hurting but if she is truly in love with Bette then she at least owes it to her to come clean about that night and say it was wrong to hurt her by calling it a mistake. It’s a starting point. Good story!

    4. I agree with Billy…. Also, if Tina believes that Bette’s kiss was truly okay, she should not have left until she made Bette see that it was okay to have that type of kiss. She understands that Bette still has an attachment to Tina, and it was a welcomed to know that Bette could express herself in such a manner. However, it was far too early for it to mean anything more than sincere friendship and affection. Tina still needs to do some self examination and figure out what it is she wants in her life. She needs to process the events of the last few days before she formats a path forward.

I just wonder if Carrie is not just in complete shock and is repressing her emotional response until she get home. She is now just responding to the facts in a logical and non-emotional way. She is doing all she can to maintain self control, after all, the woman she thought she was marrying just admitted that she cheated on her and ended her relationship with her. This has to hurt like hell.

This story is very intriguing…. love to see more….
