(Bette) Hi, sorry, that took a while

Tina doesn’t respond to her as she looks towards the bar, her gaze fixed on Chelsea who is still looking intently at Bette. She takes a breath before speaking.

(Tina) She’s very attractive, you should pursue her if that’s what you want to do

Bette looks over at her and Tina avoids her eyes as she leans forward and picks up her drink. Tina leans back and has a sip and then finally looks over to Bette, who is staring back at her, trying to read her.

(Bette) I don’t want to pursue her

Tina looks away and they sit in silence for a moment, both gathering their thoughts. Tina looks back to her.

(Tina) I’m going to get going

Bette looks at her in confusion as Tina places her drink back on the table and reaches for her bag.

(Bette) Sorry, why are you leaving?

(Tina) I think it’s for the best. I have an early start tomorrow anyway

Tina gestures with her head towards the bar.

(Tina) And you can make the most of the night

Bette continues watching her as Tina gathers her things together. She reaches out and places her hand on Tina’s forearm.

(Bette) Tee, I’m not going home with anyone else tonight

Tina looks back at her.

(Bette) I’m here with you, I’m hardly going to pursue some woman who approached me at the bar

They continue looking at each other.

(Bette) If you want to go home then do that. I’ll drive you and then I’ll go home too. But I’d like you to stay

Bette nods towards the bar.

(Bette) And I want you to know that if that looked like anything from here I can assure you that it was nothing at all, certainly not on my side

Tina shakes her head.

(Tina) Bette you really don’t need to assure me of that

Bette looks at her for another moment.

(Bette) I don’t really understand what’s happening, are you angry with me because you think I was flirting with her?

Tina sighs.

(Tina) No, I’m not angry with you at all

Bette looks at her suspiciously and Tina looks back at her.

(Tina) Really, I’m not

Tina shrugs.

(Tina) I’m angry with myself. You don’t need to worry about this, but I really think I should go
