Chapter 76 – How Close Do You Keep Your Sexual Partners?

“Send the offer to Wischnia. See if you can get a meeting with them before the Tuesday gig.”

    “Fine.”

The bald man turned to leave her office and stopped just short of the doorway. “One more thing, I have no problem pullin’ chicks. Just so we’re clear.” His tone was embittered and as he made his exit, Tina was finally free to roll her eyes.

After a few deep breaths, Tina cracked a smile. “Too bad I pulled a hotter chick than you could ever dream of pulling, asshat.”

    Bette’s House

“So 10 o’clock, Joyce’s office, right?” Alice confirmed.

“Yes. Do you all have the address?” Bette asked the band as they sat outside on her patio deck just as the sun was beginning to set.

“We got it.” Shane assured while the rest of the band nodded their heads and murmured in agreement.

Kit caught Bette’s eye sitting across the table from her younger sister. The younger Porter nodded slightly, knowing that it was the right time to tell the band about the pending deal they would hear about tomorrow. Both women were a bit worried about how the other members would take the news. Of course, there was no danger of Kit leaving the band to strike out on her own. But it was important to be sensitive to their feelings.

“Guys, I wanted to talk to you about some of the things we’ll be discussing tomorrow.” Bette began, looking around and making sure she had everyone’s attention.

“Well, isn’t James gonna be there?” Alice asked.

“Yes, he will be. And I think we are all in agreement that he’s the agent we want instead of Jodi Lerner, right?” Bette again looked around, hearing and seeing nothing but agreement. “Good. That issue is settled then.”

“What other issues are there?” asked Angus.

All eyes were on Bette with the exception of Kit, who bent her head and stared at the table. Bette shifted in her seat, her nerves beginning to show.

“I spoke with Tina this past week, and, um,” Bette swallowed, taking her time in relaying the information. “It turns out that her boss heard about your show at the Planet.”

Alice immediately smirked, thinking that this was the part where Bette revealed that there was an offer on the table.

    1. As for the list of artists… those names work very well for your story and for Tina’s to make a point. :-)

Aaron is such an idiot. How can Tina stand working for him?
Looking forward to the band’s meeting with Joyce.

    2. Ha, you just made me laugh at Tina’s “Bette-induced waking coma”, quite delightful ! ;-)

Now I fully agree with kiwipit’s comment : how can she endure this guy without feeling on the verge of murder !
This depictable dwarf truly drives me up the wall and I cannot wait to see him grind out like a cigarette !!

In contrast, what a delight to read Kit and her Stouts’ interactions, I love them all and you depict Bette and the gang as such an endearing family…
… quickly, my next fix ; your last posted chapter ! ;-)
