Tina looks over at her.

(Tina) Actually, do you mind if we watch something I know? Something we’ve watched together before?

Bette lowers the remote and looks back at her.

(Bette) Of course, anything in mind?

(Tina) Hmmm, a classic maybe?

Bette smiles and navigates to the relevant menu. Tina picks an old favourite and they settle back together on the couch.

Later, Bette wakes on the couch and sits blinking for a moment as she orients herself and takes in the scene. She looks over at the familiar body lying on the couch next to her, and the familiar legs stretched out over her lap.

Bette reaches for her cell on the coffee table and checks the time.

(Bette) Shit

She turns to Tina and lifts her legs from her lap as she slips out from under them. She shuffles further down the couch and sits alongside her, leaning forward to gently move Tina’s hair from her eyes to rouse her.

(Bette) Tee?

Tina begins to stir and speaks to Bette with her eyes still closed.

(Tina) Did we fall asleep baby?

(Bette smiles) Yes

Tina stretches both arms above her head, and Bette can’t help smiling at the image. Tina opens her eyes and smiles sleepily as she sees Bette smiling down at her. She casually reaches up and takes hold of Bette’s shirt, pulling her down on top of her as she buries her other hand in Bette’s hair and kisses her.

In her surprise at the sudden move Bette doesn’t immediately resist, but gathers herself after a moment and pushes back off the couch with her hands, hovering over her with eyebrows raised. Tina looks at her in confusion for a moment before the realisation of their current circumstance dawns on her. She cringes with a smile and holds her hand over her eyes.

(Tina) Shit

She takes her hand away and sees Bette smiling back at her. They both laugh.

(Tina) I’m sorry, that was genuinely an honest mistake. This scene just feels very familiar I guess, I forgot for a moment

(Bette smiles) It’s OK

Bette pushes herself further up and sits next to her on the couch as Tina also pulls herself up into a sitting position.

Tina smiles over at her.

(Tina) I did warn you I’d slip up

(Bette laughs) Yes, you did

They smile at each other.

(Tina) What time is it?

(Bette sighs) Late. 2am

Tina raises her eyebrows as she stifles a yawn.

(Bette) Well, I can drive you back to Alice’s. I’m sure she’s beside herself with worry

Bette gets up to fetch her keys and Tina reaches for her handbag and shoes placed by the coffee table.

(Tina sighs) I actually couldn’t care less what anyone else thinks, but it’s probably a good idea anyway

Bette stops and watches her as Tina sits on the couch putting on her shoes.

(Bette) Stay then

Tina stops what she is doing and looks up at her.

(Bette) You’re right, what does it matter what they think. The spare bedroom is set up. I think you’d probably like staying here?

Tina smiles at her.

(Tina) Yes, I would. This feels like my home. It feels very strange to leave

(Bette smiles) OK then. Well you know where everything is

(Tina smiles) If everything is as it was, then yes

Bette smiles.

(Bette) I don’t think you’ll have any trouble

Tina smiles at her.

(Bette) Well, goodnight

(Tina) Goodnight

They walk to their separate bedrooms, both stealing a glance at the other as they go.
