Chapter 9
She returns to the kitchen carrying her overnight bag, and Bette stands from her position at the bench as she sees her approach.
(Bette) How did you go?
(Tina) Yes, fine. I think I have everything I need
Bette nods.
(Tina) Thank you for coming with me
(Bette smiles) Don’t mention it
Bette glances to the bag Tina is holding.
(Bette) You’re still planning on staying with Alice tonight? I thought you might decide to stay here
Tina sighs as she again looks around the room.
(Tina) No, it’s too weird for me
Bette nods and then looks at her for a moment.
(Bette) You’re welcome to stay with me again
Tina turns to her.
(Tina) Really?
(Bette smiles) Yes. Angie’s back tomorrow afternoon so it could only be for tonight, but you’re very welcome to
Tina nods and then smiles at her.
(Tina) OK, I’d like that. Thank you
(Bette smiles) It’s no problem
Bette arrives first and gets a start on dinner, stepping away to let Tina in when she hears her knock on the door. They walk together back to the kitchen.
(Bette) How did the drive go?
(Tina sighs) I don’t know, I don’t like my car. It beeps at me a lot
Bette laughs.
(Bette) Yes they do tend to do that now
(Tina) Well I made it here fine anyway, so it can’t have been complaining about anything too serious
Upon arriving in the kitchen Bette resumes her dinner preparations and Tina retrieves a chopping board from one of the cupboards, casually positioning herself alongside Bette and helping with the task at hand.
They sit diagonally opposite each other at the island bench and enjoy their meal together over a bottle of wine they picked up earlier in the day. They finish their meal and having arrived back late from Ojai they both are tired from their day and decide to call it a night. They clear everything away and come together in the kitchen to say goodnight. They smile at each other as Bette places her hands on Tina’s hips, and Tina runs her hands down Bette’s arms.
(Tina) I had a really lovely day
(Bette) I did as well
Tina smiles at her as she raises her hands and gently runs them through Bette’s hair. She looks at her for a long moment before speaking.
(Tina) I want to ask to sleep with you, in our bed. To just sleep. But I think that you’d say no
Bette leans into Tina’s hand, now resting on the side of her face.
(Tina) Right?
Bette takes a breath.
(Bette) I don’t think it’s a good idea
Tina nods as she continues gently stroking her hair. She takes a breath and smiles at her.
(Tina) OK
They share a long look.
(Tina) Well, goodnight
(Bette) Goodnight
Tina steps back and makes her way to her bedroom.
Later, Tina lies in bed, wide awake and lying on her side with her back to the door. She hears footsteps making their way down the hallway and the creak of her door as light from the hallway spills into the room. She remains in position as she feels Bette slip under the covers and move over to her. Bette brings her arm around Tina’s waist and curls her body around her, as Tina leans further back into her and pulls Bette’s arm around her more tightly.
Tina turns her head towards her, speaking to her softly over her shoulder.
(Tina) Hi
(Bette) Hi
They continue to hold each other close as they enjoy the feel of the other’s body against their own. Bette gently nuzzles into Tina’s neck, and Tina smiles at the contact.
(Bette) Don’t tell Alice
(Tina smiles) OK
They fall asleep together, neither moving from their position through the night.

I am in love with this story!
It’s good they have both fond and happy memories.
Thought that maybe Tina being in her own home triggered some memories but it didn’t. Her old wedding ring alone in the top drawer, hmmm, maybe Tina still held hope out that one day they would find their way to each other.
Bette snucking in Tina’s bedroom, she can’t hold herself back.
Great chapter, thank you!
I am very much enjoying this story. It is very creative. Tina starts out so angry, but we all know to be that angry means there is another emotion rolling around.
Rather interesting that old Tina had her wedding ring in the side draw. Telling for sure.

and “I dont like my car, it keeps beeping at me” . . .
“Dont tell Alice” . . .
Tina may be stuck back in time, but she hasnt 4gotten that Bette “lovin'”!!!
I hope Tina isn’t too traumatized when her memory returns. I think that they lost touch of the good things in their relationship. Bette sneaking into the bed is precious. Alice said that she trusts them right? Maybe not remembering the bad stuff is not so bad? PPS
Yes, U r soooo rght!
The intimatecies have CLEARLY marked Tina’s soul
. . . for the good I suspect. There’s a reason she KEPT her wedding ring.
Loving this story so far!
