Chapter 9
Tina laughs.
(Tina) Nothing out there, don’t worry. I’m just excited
They smile at each other.
(Tina) How about we head to wine country. Ojai or Temecula?
(Bette) I haven’t been to Ojai in a long time
(Tina smiles) OK then
They share a smile as Bette has a sip of coffee and Tina reaches for a bagel from one of the plates Bette has set out on the bench.
(Tina) I guess that’s one thing you probably don’t miss? My making you do things outside of your comfort zone
(Bette) Well, your daughter does a pretty good job of keeping up the tradition
(Tina smiles) Really?
(Bette) Yes, she actually had me paddle boarding with her recently
(Tina) Ooh that sounds fun
Bette laughs as she serves smoked salmon onto the bagels Tina has placed on their plates.
(Bette) And how many missed calls did you have from Alice this morning?
(Tina smiles) Just the one message actually. She said that she trusts us and she’s backing off
Tina shrugs and Bette smiles at her.
(Bette) Well ok then
They set off together for Ojai, taking in the scenery along the way and both enjoying the usual easy company. Tina sits with her hand casually placed on Bette’s thigh as she sings along quietly to the 90s playlist Bette has put on for the drive.
They arrive at a picturesque winery and hold hands as they make their way inside together, looking forward to a relaxing lunch and some wine tasting.
They enjoy their meal and then sit back and enjoy the view and continue to sample from their wine tasting tray.
(Bette) You might have to have the last of mine or I won’t be driving home
(Tina smiles) I can’t help you sorry, I’m struggling with my own, you’d be carrying me through the front door
They smile at each other and Bette gestures to the waiter for the bill.
After lunch they decide to take a walk along a well worn path that offers views of the winery and the surrounding hills.
(Bette) Do you remember we came here for our first weekend away together?
(Tina smiles) Of course. I was so excited to have you all to myself for the whole weekend

I am in love with this story!
It’s good they have both fond and happy memories.
Thought that maybe Tina being in her own home triggered some memories but it didn’t. Her old wedding ring alone in the top drawer, hmmm, maybe Tina still held hope out that one day they would find their way to each other.
Bette snucking in Tina’s bedroom, she can’t hold herself back.
Great chapter, thank you!
I am very much enjoying this story. It is very creative. Tina starts out so angry, but we all know to be that angry means there is another emotion rolling around.
Rather interesting that old Tina had her wedding ring in the side draw. Telling for sure.

and “I dont like my car, it keeps beeping at me” . . .
“Dont tell Alice” . . .
Tina may be stuck back in time, but she hasnt 4gotten that Bette “lovin'”!!!
I hope Tina isn’t too traumatized when her memory returns. I think that they lost touch of the good things in their relationship. Bette sneaking into the bed is precious. Alice said that she trusts them right? Maybe not remembering the bad stuff is not so bad? PPS
Yes, U r soooo rght!
The intimatecies have CLEARLY marked Tina’s soul
. . . for the good I suspect. There’s a reason she KEPT her wedding ring.
Loving this story so far!
