Chapter 9
(Bette) Alice just texted about organising a birthday dinner for Dana this weekend
Tina smiles at her for a moment before responding.
(Tina) Right, yes. She’d mentioned that. Do you think you’ll be well enough to go?
Bette looks over at her and nods.
(Bette) I think so, it’s still a couple of days away. If I continue to feel well until then I think it’d be fine
Tina nods as she places her laptop to one side. Bette leans her head back into the couch and looks over at her.
(Bette) I’ve been planning your birthday recently
Tina looks to her and raises her eyebrows.
(Tina) In 2002?
Bette nods and Tina smiles.
(Bette) I guess you know how that turns out
Tina nods and smiles.
(Tina) I do
They both smile.
(Tina) You did a great job, everything was…
She raises her eyebrows.
(Tina) Wonderful
Bette smiles.
(Bette) You were surprised?
Tina smiles and nods.
(Tina) Yes
(Bette) Which hotel did I choose? I have about four booked at the moment, I’m having trouble deciding
Tina gives a small laugh and looks at her affectionately.
(Tina) I didn’t know that. I can’t remember the name, but it was in Ojai. It was lovely
Bette raises her eyebrows.
(Bette) That’s funny, that’s not even one of the four. I haven’t even considered Ojai yet
They smile at each other.
They decide to order something for dinner and then sit back on the couch together again.
(Bette) Do you want to play a game of cards? Or a board game?
Tina smiles at her.
(Bette) What?
Tina smiles and shrugs.
(Tina) We never really did that. Or not often. You must be bored?
(Bette smiles) No, I’m never bored with you
Tina smiles.
(Bette sighs) But I don’t think we’ve ever spent this much time at home before either
Tina nods.
(Bette) Are you starting to feel restless?
(Tina smiles) Yes and no. It’s kind of nice to slow down for a few days actually
(Bette nods) Your job must be very demanding
(Tina) It can be
She pauses for a sip of wine.
(Tina) And I’m also fifteen years older than when you last knew me, that’s probably a factor too

Absolutely love your stories. Anxiously awaiting your next chapter.
Tina doesn’t seem to be missing Sarah. LOL on the dinner party from hell. This will be very interesting. P.S. Tina belongs with Bette.
So the only person which appears to be missing from this dinner party from hell will be Julia and possibly Angie…. that would make things absolutely perfect. Perfect in the way that all the players in this drama would be present. So let the games begin – maybe a version of the Hunger Games – fight for possession?
And so Tina spends a second night in Bette’s bed?
Thanks for the chapter..
Who’s going to slip up and the other first? Tina is loving every minute of having Bettes attention. Bette is winning her back right just by spending time together. Well played Bette. Seeing Tina with her fiance will quietly kill Bette.
Loving this story, can’t wait to see what happens !
Thank you
“Baby, I’m sure you’re fine…”
“Can you just pretend you didn’t hear it”?
Loved this exchange between them
I loved your other take on this story theme.
This one is just as good.
Looking forward to more.
