    Tina gives a small laugh and they smile at each other. Tina then cringes and shrugs.

    (Tina) I went out with her, a long time ago

    Bette nods slowly and raises her eyebrows.

    (Bette) Oh good

    Tina smiles.

    (Tina) You didn’t get on so well once, but you’re great now

    Bette nods.

    (Tina) She’s Peggy Peabody’s daughter

    (Bette) Right, well I know of Peggy, I haven’t met her though

    Tina nods.

    (Tina) Well Peggy is important to you now. You’re quite close actually

    Tina has a sip of wine and Bette leans her head back into the couch and then looks over at her.

    (Bette) Do you feel like this is shaping up to be the dinner party from hell?

    Tina gives a small laugh and they share an affectionate look.

    (Tina) Maybe. And you can’t even drink

    Bette smiles and raises her eyebrows.

    (Bette) Maybe that’s for the best actually

    They smile at each other. Bette then sighs and rubs her forehead.

    (Bette) So my wife, our friends, my wife’s fiancée , plus an ex-girlfriend

    She looks to Tina.

    (Bette) I’m pretty sure I’ve had this dream before

    She raises her eyebrows.

    (Bette) It doesn’t end well

    Tina smiles, and Bette looks at her for a moment.

    (Bette) Is it weird for you when I refer to you as my wife?

    (Tina smiles) It’s fine, I know that’s where your head is at right now

    They share an affectionate look. Tina has a sip of wine and sighs.

    (Tina) And it’s not much better for me. My friends, an ex-girlfriend, my fiancée and my ex-wife

    Tina shrugs and Bette laughs.

    (Bette) OK yes, that might even be worse for you

    Tina smiles at her. She looks at her for a moment and then reaches towards her and runs her fingers through Bette’s hair.

    (Tina) I’m sorry about this

    Bette smiles at her and they hold each other’s gaze, Tina still running her fingers through her hair.

    (Bette smiles) It’s OK. Who doesn’t love an awkward dinner party?

    They smile at each other. Bette casually places her hand on Tina’s thigh and gives her a reassuring look.

    (Bette) We’ll get through it

    Tina looks at her for another moment and then smiles.

    (Tina) Yeah?

    Bette smiles as she gently moves her thumb over Tina’s leg.

    (Bette) Yeah

    3. So the only person which appears to be missing from this dinner party from hell will be Julia and possibly Angie…. that would make things absolutely perfect. Perfect in the way that all the players in this drama would be present. So let the games begin – maybe a version of the Hunger Games – fight for possession?

      And so Tina spends a second night in Bette’s bed?

    4. Who’s going to slip up and the other first? Tina is loving every minute of having Bettes attention. Bette is winning her back right just by spending time together. Well played Bette. Seeing Tina with her fiance will quietly kill Bette.
