Chapter 9
(Bette) Don’t get angry with me , I didn’t take it
Tina shakes her head as she turns the clock over in her hands. She looks back to Bette.
(Tina) Why would you even want this? You always hated it
Bette raises her eyebrows.
(Bette) I don’t hate it
Tina looks at her sceptically and Bette shrugs.
(Bette) I’ll admit it’s not my favourite thing, but you’ve always loved it. So I like having it around
Tina gives a small laugh and shakes her head.
(Tina) Well later on you’re not so polite. You used to take it off the mantel whenever we had people over
Bette frowns, and Tina starts to place the items back in the box.
(Tina) Anyway, I feel like I’m invading your privacy again. We should stop
Bette nods as Tina returns the remainder of the items to the box and places it to one side.
(Bette) You’re not going to take the clock?
Tina smiles at her.
(Tina) No, it’s weird to take it. Maybe I’ll ask you about it again
Bette nods as she stacks the other boxes at the end of the table.
(Bette) Well anyway, maybe stopping is a good idea. It seems to only be getting me in trouble anyway
Tina smiles over at her.
(Tina) I thought you liked being told off by me
Bette looks up at her with raised eyebrows and they smile at each other. They hold each other’s gaze for a moment and Tina then nods towards the kitchen.
(Tina) Shall we get started on dinner?
(Bette smiles) Sure
They prepare dinner together and then sit down to eat at the island bench. After they’ve finished eating Bette refills Tina’s wine, and their attention is drawn to Tina’s cell ringing. Tina stands and moves over to the counter and looks at the screen, and then looks over to Bette.
(Tina) Sorry, I should take this
Bette nods, taking in Tina’s sudden awkwardness.
(Bette) OK, you go, I’ll tidy up here
She nods to Tina’s wine.
(Bette) Come and have this on the couch whenever you’re ready
Tina smiles and nods.
(Tina) Thanks, I won’t be long
A short while later, Bette is sitting on the couch and looks up as Tina makes her way over. Tina sits down next to her and reaches for her wine on the coffee table.

Absolutely love your stories. Anxiously awaiting your next chapter.
Cathy says
Tina doesn’t seem to be missing Sarah. LOL on the dinner party from hell. This will be very interesting. P.S. Tina belongs with Bette.
Martha3128 says
So the only person which appears to be missing from this dinner party from hell will be Julia and possibly Angie…. that would make things absolutely perfect. Perfect in the way that all the players in this drama would be present. So let the games begin – maybe a version of the Hunger Games – fight for possession?
And so Tina spends a second night in Bette’s bed?
Thanks for the chapter..
BHAv625 says
Who’s going to slip up and the other first? Tina is loving every minute of having Bettes attention. Bette is winning her back right just by spending time together. Well played Bette. Seeing Tina with her fiance will quietly kill Bette.
