Last Year – Mid-December – Two Weeks till Christmas
The end of year holidays were fast approaching and the holiday preparations by the Kennard Porters was intensifying. A little less than 2 weeks to go until Christmas Day itself. Tina and Bette were pretty mute on discussing with each other any gifts ideas for the each other. Both women content on surprising their partner on the holiday itself. But they had a few serious conversations about gifts ideas for Angie and how one particular gift would play a large role in her future. Something the three ladies had discussed often over the past several weeks.
Gifts for other family members and close friends were a joint effort by both women. They had agreed upon ideas and suggestions and those gifts were already taken care of, wrapped and awaiting presentation.
At this time in mid – December, Bette was pleased with the progress she had achieved with her therapy and the Kit Porter Foundation during the past several weeks.
Once Bette had returned to LA from Toronto in November, the brunette had reached out to her therapist and had scheduled a session within a few days. Over the course of the last few weeks, Bette had explored her grief for her sister during several sessions. With her therapist, Bette confirmed that she had been blocking the grief she felt from her sister’s death.
Despite their earlier years of disagreements and estrangements for periods of time, the Porter sisters eventually embraced each other and rebuilt their relationship step by step. Each woman earning the trust of the other and embracing the closeness they both sought.
Mistakes of the past by both parties were forgiven and a new connections forged. They came to rely on each other and were the other’s confidant. Celebrating their sisterly bond and supporting each other like at no other times in their lives. Kit loved Angie as much as if she was her own child and Bette came to admire and appreciate Kit’s son David and his family.
