”Tina Kennard”

”There is an inmate at Los Angeles County Jail trying to contact you..Will you accept the charges?”

Tina sighed heavily knowing this was not the time to take this call and made the decision to visit her later in person instead

“No” Tina replied and hung up the phone and turned to Bette “You ready”

Bette nodded wondering what that call was about but didn’t dare ask as it was none of her business but could tell Tina’s demeanor had changed a little

Tina took a deep breath letting it out as she got out of the car and walked behind Bette to the entrance of the cafe.

As the waiter showed them to their table and took their seats, they browsed the menu for a few minutes before the waiter came back setting their water down in front of them. After giving the waiter their orders and handing back the menu, Bette took a sip of her water and turned to Tina.

”So Tina? You told me you went to Brighton right?”Bette asked and looked over at Tina who was sipping her water.

Tina nodded “Yes”

“Did you know Lacey Minton?”

Tina felt her insides turn

’Fucking Lacey Minton…Ok Tina. Think court. You are in court. Piece of cake’ Tina thought as she prepared her answers.

”Yes I remember her” Tina answered with a blank expression which puzzled Bette.

”I figured you did….She and I dated my Senior year until my Sophomore year of college”

”Oh really?” Tina answered dryly “I don’t think I remember that?”

Tina had gotten the nerve to approach Bette the summer before at a mock trial where several area high school students were competing…Lacey was Tina’s first friend when she arrived at Brighton and revealed her long time crush on Bette and how she was ready to approach her and maybe ask her out because she knew Bette wasn’t seeing anyone at that time…It never happened because Lacey beat her to it and that ultimately ended their friendship

”You sound like you didn’t like her” Bette asked raising an eyebrow

“Let’s just say she stole something from me..I mean it wasn’t mine to begin with but she stole my chance at something” Tina answered honestly now taking bigger sips of her water. “Why did you break up?”

”Distance…It was just hard to keep up with a relationship…I really liked her and she did treat me well”. Bette answered looking at Tina who was still sporting an expressionless look.

”Well I guess if she treated you good then I can’t totally hate her…You deserved better than those bitches you dated back then” Tina remarked stabbing her straw around in her drink

Bette gasped

“Huh?”

“Sandra for one…Major bitch….I wanted to punch her lights out for what she did to you” Tina remarked not realizing Bette was staring at her

“Tina?”

“Huh?” Tina replied seeing Bette’s puzzled expression

“How did you know who I dated at Westwood

‘Oh shit’. Tina thought as Bette looked her anxiously awaiting an answer..’Fuck here we go’

“Well..I may have graduated from Brighton but I did go to Westwood for a year” Tina answered as she braced for Bette’s response
