    Diary of a Mad Addict . . . Chapter 18

Hey Linn, have you ever seen the movie the Wizard of Oz, you know with Dorothy and the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the funny Lion? ever see that one?

She once again said something to her sister in a language foreign to me and they both shook their heads, Sorry Beachie, not familiar with that one. Any body famous in it?

Youre kidding right? I asked so unbelievably stunned that anyone living in America could not know about the Wizard. You never saw that one, the part where the lion is getting a manicure, a pedicure and his hair cut all at the same time? Geez, Linn thats a classic? How old, or should I say how young are you?

I didnt even bother to listen to her response because my euphoric mood had just been dashed by my fantasy nail girl -a child -a moron of the highest degree who had never even heard of the Wizard of Oz. Suddenly I didnt like her any more and I couldnt wait to get finished and head home to someone who knew about the Wizard, appreciated the Wizard, would laugh as I described this salon scene to her. Someone who loved me and would pamper me more than any barely-20 something nail girl could ever do.

(IS THIS AN AH HA MOMENT FOR ME? AM I FINALLY REALIZING THAT ALL THAT FOOLISH FANTASIZING AND CHATTING WITH STRANGERS AND WANTING TO MEET PEOPLE JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN WRITE GOOD BnT HOT STUFF AND DRAMA IS JUST PLAIN RIDICULOUS? THAT EVERYTHING I COULD EVER WANT OR NEED IS RIGHT THERE AT HOME?? OH YEA, BABY, THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME . . . )

I left the spa feeling quite refreshed and attractive and tinglely and wanting to get home as quick as my newly trimmed toes and fresh feet could carry me. Even though it was Saturday I was feeling frisky and didnt know if I had the will power to wait until Sunday to show K my lineless tan and neatly trimmed fingers and toes.

She was sitting at the kitchen table reading the daily paper, obviously not having time until this late hour to do so. Still wearing her bib overalls sans underwear, now all dirty and sawdust covered, she sat on her chair with one knee bent and the heel of that foot on the edge of the chair. It was oh so reminiscent of how she sits every Sunday morning, reading the paper with her leg bent and her heel on the edge of her chair. And not wearing panties certainly gave me a view of down under that made my mouth water.
