Diary of a Mad Addict
Frustrated I began to shake my wrist and rattle the metal against metal, and just before I was about to pull and tug on the towel rack I heard K bellow from the kitchen . . .
“You ***** pull that rack from its hinges or crack the tile or dent the dry wall I will come in there and pepper spray you after I throw a glass of grape juice all over your piece of ***** white tank top. Then I will give a shovel so you can just dig your own grave. So just stop it you moron.”
(DAMN . . . SHE SOUNDS REALLY REALLY PISSED)
That’s when I dropped to the floor, sitting and thinking and methodically banging my head on the wall. Slowly and rhythmically I dropped my head forward then tilted it backward hitting the wall with a barely audible but annoyingly constant THUD. . . . . THUD . . . . THUD . . .
To say the least, I was bored — without-a-doubt- motherfuckin bored. If there was one thing K had insisted upon in the construction of our house, it was that the rooms be spacious, stark, yet simple and functional. The bathroom was no exception. The place was HUGE with a great old sunken tub surrounded by built-in-the-tile shelving. Embedded in the wall directly across from the tub was a full size flat screen high definition flat screen TV which we watched religiously as we soaked and bathed either together or individually.
There was even a mobile folding tray, similar to the ones used in hospitals, which K had concocted in case one or both of us wanted to use the computer while bathing. The tray was low to the ground and could easily be manipulated and positioned right in front of your chest as you sat in the tub. Since we had a wireless connection, the chances of us getting electrocuted from a computer falling into bathwater were nil. Nonetheless, K had cleverly devised a safeguard – a small retractable shelf under the tray which could be extended on both sides to catch the computer or any other miscellaneous item which we might put on that tray.
As I sat and lightly banged my head, I began recalling more memorable moments with K. I remember those numerous Sunday evenings after our weekly ritual of “***** around the house” just melting away in a whirlpool of warm bubbles wrapped up in each other’s bodies watching the L-word. This was one of our favorite places to get into those heated discussions about the show, me ripping Bette or what the ***** was up with Jenny – or what direction the show seemed to be taking – the lack of personalities and character development – the agonizingly painful lack of Bette-***** and the craving of more Carmen.
