Do Better – Chapter Three

“You did not have to live up to her, I did not want that from you.”
“Then what did you want from me?”
“Just you being you, Carrie.”
“I told you numerous times she was still in love with you.”
“I know that.”
“I just didn’t realize you were in love with her too.”
“I’m sorry, Carrie.”
“So is this what you wanted to talk about? You confessing to still being in love with Bette?”
“I’m worried about you and I-um, think you need to seek some help. Last night’s interaction with Bette was not you.”
“So you searched me out, had Shane lie to me about coming here to apologize to her, just so you could tell me that I’m the one who needs help?”
“Listen Carrie, your personality was the reason I fell in love with you and you getting somewhat bold with Bette is just not you.”
“Yeah maybe that wasn’t me but Bette brings that out in me.”
“You were also hammered last night Carrie.”
“So I had a few too many. Is that a crime?”
“I don’t want you turning to alcohol.”
“I’m not your worry anymore, Tina.”
“I’ll always love you Carrie, I’m just not in love with you. But I’ll always care for you too.”
I watch as Carrie pushes out her chair and stands to her feet.
“Please just leave me alone, Tina.”
I rest my shoulders on the table and rub my eyes with frustration.
Once my vision becomes clear I notice Bette stepping through the entrance. “Fuck.” I say aloud.
I watch as Bette and Carrie make eye contact.
I quickly stand to my feet and make my way towards the door.
“If you think I’m taking the time out to apologize to you, you have another thing coming.” Carrie says looking Bette in her eyes.
“You think I want your apology?” Bette rolls her eyes before catching my eyes.
I watch as Shane approaches us from behind the bar.
“Is this some kind of set up?” Carrie turns around to look at me.
“No Carrie, no one is setting you up.”
“Again, I want to apologize to you Shane for causing a scene here at your bar last night.”
“Carrie” I call her name but she exits through the door.

O.ooo, my eyes went wide with this last sentence…
Great chapter.
It still hurts Bette that Tina left her for that woman and now that woman is talking with Angie behind their back and I’m don’t trust her, she wants Angie to meet someone?
She is using Angie to hurt Bette and maybe Tina as well. And Angie thinks she is so grown up and think that woman can be trusted. No way.
Sorry, i can’t say out or write that woman’s name.
Bette going to work on herself is positive but Tina should do it too, Bette always blames herself but Tina played a very big part in their on and off relationships. She is known to hide her feelings and instead of talking to Bette she runs away every time it gets to much.
I’m enjoying this story. Thank you.
