Who’s Your Heart Chasing? – Chapter Two

“That was very tasty, Bette.” I say downing the last sip of wine from my glass.
“Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it.” Bette pushes out her chair and lifts the two plates into her hands.
”Do you think Angie will be ok?” I ask.
“I should try and call her.”
“She probably won’t answer for me nor you.”
“Shane.” Bette bursts out. “I’ll call Shane, she probably ran to Shane about this.”
I await for Bette to dial Shane’s number.
“Hey Shane.”
“She’s fine. She’s with me.”
We both looked at each other with ease.
“I’m assuming you are at Dana’s?”
“Yes.”
“We’ll be by.” Bette says before ending the call.
“Did you want to come with me?” Bette asks me.
“Yeah it is probably best if we both go and talk with her.”
___
“Hey Shane.” I approached her behind the bar.
“Where is she?” Bette asks Shane.
“She’s right over there.” Shane says pointing to the back of the bar.
“I’ll go have a chat with her first, Bette. I think the two of us will overwhelm her.”
I make my way to the back of the bar, she’s sitting at the table completely indulged in her phone.
“Honey.”
She looks up at me and sighs.
“I told you guys I needed to clear my mind.”
“I think we let you do that, I see you ran to Shane.”
“She’s the one I confide in.”
“Well can your Mama T please be confided in?”
“I just want to know the entire truth, mom.”
“And I will tell you.”
“What happened the other night?”
I exhale through my mouth before I begin.
___
Bette
I stare between Shane and the corner of the bar where the two most beautiful people in my life sit. I watch the body language and the gestures of them until I hear Shane speaking.
“What’s happening right now Bette?”
“How much did she tell you?”
“Tina and you are still in love with each other.”
“But I don’t know if it’s a good thing or bad thing at this point.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“It means what it means. It’s different. It feels the same but different.”
“How so?”
“I don’t know where this is going to lead us. I don’t know how we respond to this. I thought it would be a good idea to invite Tina over to tell Angie what was happening but it all blew up in my face with her. I didn’t think she would just walk out like that.”

I just discovered your story and I’m very intrigued. It’s different from the other stories i have read.
It’s really weird Carrie has contact with Angie but doesn’t reach out to Tina to talk and find closure. That she and Bette doesn’t get along and tolerated each other for Angie’s sake i understand but i always felt Carrie tried to pull Angie in and tried in a sneaky way to get Angie on her side and put negative thoughts about her Mama B into her.
And Tina, so far i don’t like your version of her, blaming Bette for everything while she is as much to blame. Poor Bette, she always takes the blame and accept it, thinks herself she is the one who messed up. In this case it’s Tina who asked Bette if she was still in love with her while she already knew that answer. Maybe Bette’s timing could have been better but still it’s Tina who started this mess with her question to Bette.
I hope you will post a new chapter soon and to read about Carrie’s and Tina’s conversation.
