“I told her we could stay here for a while, but then we need to go wash all this beach sand off.”

“That sounds good. What a great party. Everyone had a really good time.”

“Yeah. Angie already booked the place for next year.”

“I’m okay with that. Peggy’s staff took care of everything. This is the most relaxed I’ve been at one of her birthday parties.”

“That’s the truth. If we were hosting, we’d be cleaning up right about now. Instead we are lying on a hammock cuddled up and relaxing. This is the life…”

They eventually doze off for about an hour, and then go into the house to wash up and get Angie ready for bed. They were staying at Peggy’s beach house for the night. James and his family also stayed over. After they put the kids to bed James, and Bette sat outside and talk. Tina, Peggy and Winnie have gone to bed, but they were expecting James’ wife Lisa to join them.

“Wow Bette, this place is better than any vacation spot we’ve been to. The kids had a blast. So, did I. Did you see me out on the water?” James asked looking for praise.

“I did. You’re still in pretty good shape for an old man.” Bette teased.

“Hey look who’s talking.”

“You’re not that much younger than me James. I’ve just always been more mature, so you appear younger.”

“Ha ha. I suppose now that you are Madam Director of the Peabody Foundation, you’ll really have to act mature. I can’t believe Peggy offered you that job? I mean there is no one better but I guess I always assumed it would be Helena’s.”

“Remember she had the job. Not only over the foundation but the entire conglomerate of companies and she fucked it all up. Being Peggy’s daughter and heir didn’t automatically qualify her for the responsibility. Besides of all the Peabody interests the arts was the least that Helena cared about. Had Peggy taken this direction even if Helena was in good standing, she would not have been selected to run it. This is mine to own and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
