    “So…..uhmmm….Tina?…..Wow…How have you been?” Bette asked and immediately regretted that question as soon is it left her lips. Tina’s eyes remained narrow and angry began to rise. She folded her arms “Really…What fucking bullshit coming from you..You don’t get to ask me that” Bette could feel the coldness in her voice “Right..You are right..I’m sorry.

    “So…..uhmmm….Tina?…..Wow…How have you been?” Bette asked and immediately regretted that question as soon is it left her lips.

    Tina’s eyes remained narrow and angry began to rise. She folded her arms

    “Really…What fucking bullshit coming from you..You don’t get to ask me that”

    Bette could feel the coldness in her voice

    “Right..You are right..I’m sorry. It’s just I never thought I would see you again” Bette said with thankfulness to whatever force drew them back together for this moment.

    “Of course you didn’t.  You thought your job was completed didn’t you.  You left me to die”

    Bette felt her words hit like frozen arrows into her heart. She looked at her confusingly

    “What?” Bette says startled at Tina’s accusation as her mind played back to the night in the hospital

    April  2015 Mercy Hospital

    “This is all my fault Gio”. Bette rests her head in her hands and begins to cry “I knew better than to get involved with her.  But I can’t lose her.  She’s in there fighting for her life because I put her in danger. I’m going to kill Rocco if it’s the last thing I do. Why did he have to go after the love of my life. It’s me he wanted”

    Gio places a comforting hand on her shoulder

    “Bette you know the best way to hurt someone the most is by hurting those the ones they love.  That’s Rocco’s style…You know what you have to do.  I have talked to our contact in Washington and we are moving our operation and entire organization to New York. We are compromised here now. We must leave and that means if you stay here you continue putting her in danger. I know you wanted out after this job but seeing as you now have a target on your back you will be keeping her in danger. Come on to New York and join us we could use your sniper skills”

    Bette raises her head and wipes her eyes with the sleeve of her shirt

    “I refuse to put Tina in anymore danger.  She deserves a full happy life. I was stupid to think I could be the one to give her that and because of me she may not ever get a chance. She deserves someone better than me and I love her too much to ruin her life.  If she makes it through this surgery I will let her go and join you..I won’t have anything worthwhile to live for so why not” Bette sighs sadly steadily wiping tears away from her cheeks

    3. I LOVE this story! So glad to see it’s back. Looking forward to reading more, and seeing how it all unfolds.

      The scene when Bette says goodbye to Tina in the hospital, just leaves me in tears.

    4. Perhaps, I do not remember correctly… but you have already change the trajectory of this story. In this story, Tina is a part of the Rocco group out to get Bette, where in the previous one, she was simply a pawn being moved around to trap Bette. She is now under the impression that Bette tried to kill her, where before, she simply deserted her in her hour of need.

      This is an interesting beginning…. can’t wait to see where this goes… Thanks for the re-write… looking forward to the continuation of this story…..
