    “Well… yes, you are in my way!” Tina replied unable to stop her eyes from wondering up the splendid woman who cut an arresting figure as she stood in contrast against the light from the window. “You look tired.” Bette remarked. “I’m tired of you following me around.” Tina retorted as she sat herself on

    “Well… yes, you are in my way!” Tina replied unable to stop her eyes from wondering up the splendid woman who cut an arresting figure as she stood in contrast against the light from the window.

    “You look tired.” Bette remarked.

    “I’m tired of you following me around.” Tina retorted as she sat herself on the floor her back against the wall opposite Bette. Against her will, she yawned.

    “Have you not got some Empire you have to manage?” the blonde continued, rubbing her eyes gently with the palm of her hands. She had to admit of being exhausted, exhausted and famished. “I thought you only permitted yourself to be away from all this only 3 weeks a year.”

    With her hands on her closed eyes, Tina only realised when she heard the noise of clothes sliding against the wall near her that Bette had moved from the window to come and sit next to her. The sudden close proximity of Bette’s long warm body did nothing to calm Tina’s heartbeat and the brief brush of the financier’s arm against her own as she settled down only served to increase the struggle she was faced with on a constant basis to keep her feelings at bay.

    My assistant can do a few things for me. I don’t have to be there all the time. And…” Bette added, “…I have my laptop!”

    Tina clenched her teeth but did not reply. They stayed there for a few long minutes before Tina realised that the place was completely silent.

    “Where is everybody?” Tina asked opening her eyes and taking some distance from Bette.

    “I have sent them home early. It is Friday after all!”

    “What time is it?” Tina asked looking at the watch on her wrist. It was nearly 6pm. She had lost track of time. She grabbed her jacket which lay nearby, palming her pockets to check her car keys and purse were there.

    “I have to get back to the city.” She stammered, “I should have left an hour ago!”

    “Where are you going?” Bette shouted after her, trying to catch up with her in the staircase.

    “Where are my files?”

    The blonde spotted to ream of papers on a joiner’s table. She grabbed them and made a beeline for the door.

    15. Ok, here i am again like promised. It took me some time to reread this, but wow, i am so happy you are back with this amazing story!

      Tina is hopeless in love with Bette and to see her fighting against that and how you tell it, it is incredible. Bette is making it difficult also by respecting her wishes, but after that parting, i hope will make Tina reconsider to not follow her heart.
