    Frozen Beginnings – Chapter seven

Tina was too flabbergasted to notice the jibe in the brunette’s tirade.

“So… what is it you do then?”

    “I work In London.”

    “In London?”

“Yes, I thought a girl like you would have no reason to suspect I was anything less than a chalet girl especially in such an isolated place away from the trendy resorts. I must admit, I kind of liked created this persona.”

“But you lied to me.” Tina observed her head bowed.

“Look at me,” Bette asked, gently taking Tina’s hand in hers.

The tender touch felt like a burn and Tina withdrew her hand almost immediately. She lifted her eyes to the brown gaze.

“When you told me your name,” Bette continued trying to not let Tina’s reaction affect her, “I realised that I knew your father. But you did not seem the slight bit surprised that your father was so calm knowing that you were alone with a perfect stranger in total isolation.”

“I thought that knowing that I was alive was enough to reassure him.” Tina confessed.

“Of course. But when he realised who you were with, he was definitely the more reassured.”

“How is it then that we have never met?”

“You don’t really strike me as someone who takes a great deal of interest in what your father does and I would bet you could not name any of his business partners.”

Tina looked away. Bette was right. As a teenager, her father had encouraged her to play hostess at some of his seminars. She had managed it once declaring after that one single experience that it was really all too boring. Her father had never asked again.

“Well… I am one of your father’s business partners.” Bette continued softly. “In brief, your father helped mine start a business from scratch. They became firm friends. Later, when I took over, I needed your dad’s help to acquire a company. That’s how it started.”

Tina tried all she could to understand.

“You and dad… then… decided to hide the truth from me?” Tina felt the sharp pang of humiliation tearing at her inside. She fought against the growing anger which threatened to erupt.

“It didn’t really happen like that,” Bette offered sensitively. She desperately wanted to reach for Tina’s hand but feared rejection once again. “I spoke with him on the phone…”

    1. Eight pages leaving your readers, as usual, just wanting more!
Great writing of our two characters in this intriguing storyline.
Another chapter of these two being ‘professional’ soon please Kins. It is so good to have you back.

    2. One of the best stories I’ve read on here lately. I enjoy the drawn out, push/pull relationship, hopefully leading to a climax (pun intended). Who needs to rush into a relationship, anyways! Keep up the good work!

    3. This was an interesting chapter. It was good to learn more about Bette background.
I admit but not exactly what I expected this chapter regarding.
but I’m still a big fan of this story and look forward to the next chapter.

    4. Yet another great chapter, good on you! You have written these characters very well and that’s not an easy task. I would be pissed too if I was Tina, her father and Bette did go behind her back and I feel like Bette should at some point apologize for that. Pls post soon and feel free to post more than 8 pages!;)

    5. Kins my dear friend you never fail to impress.

Eight pages of another great chapter..

Tina not wanting to agree with anything Bette offers her.

Backing down in her own way by putting their relationship on a professional footing. To me Bette

always seems to have the upper hand but in a subtle way.

Still no closer to knowing what Bette does as a profession.

Kins you always leave us wanting more.

Looking forward eagerly to your next chapter.PPS….C.xx

    6. What happens next? Next chapter please… Bette arrogance can be quite amusing but I hope it melts away. The sarcasm in her can be quite hurtful to someone who genuinely likes her…Hope Tina feels less cheated after a while. It’s awful to feel like a fool. First eric(Eric is such a bastard) and now Bette not being fully honest from the start. It’s hard to trust people after a while. Can’t wait to read how Tina shapes up in this story
