I shrug “It’s like she was forcing a smile when she was talking about it”
Bette nods in thought “Yeah I’m pretty sure something isn’t right…I Uh…I wish I could find out” she says wistfully
I sigh and figure I would shoot my shot
“You know Alyssa originally pulled me into that room to talk about you”
“What?” She asks looking at me wide eyed
I nod “Yeah..She was asking me how I got you to talk to me when you won’t even give her a second look…She misses you Bette”
Bette furrows her brows and sips quietly on her coffee…Oh shit…She’s gonna shutdown on me now..I feel it
“Well uh…I…uh…I miss her too” she says hesitantly and I let out a breath that she didn’t completely shut down the conversation
“Then why won’t you talk her Bette?…She sounds like she really needs you”
I could see Bette silently struggle with her emotions..I don’t know why but I could sense the longing, the apprehension, and the conflict within in her. It’s kind of scaring me I’m reading her like this
“Tina..I…I…Just can’t right now…I’m not ready..And for whatever reason she is choosing to be with Holly I just can’t get involved with that. Not right now…I just cant. So the best thing to do is for you to focus on winning her over”
I sigh. This is going to be harder than I thought. But I will figure out how later…
“Bette..About that…Alyssa told me she wants to be with Holly…Maybe I should just give up” I sigh
Bette scoffs “Are you serious?”
I shrug “I mean I practically friendzoned myself last night telling her I just wanted to be her friend. I wasn’t going to confess my feelings after her telling me she really wanted to be with Holly”
Bette laughs…And I’m really growing to love her laugh
“God you two really are frustrating ” she says shaking her head
I scoff “What do you mean?”
She leans forward slight and crosses her arms over her chest
“Alyssa obviously isn’t telling the truth about why she’s with Holly…She’s never mentioned liking her or wanting to date her to me. So I highly doubt she just started liking her in the last year…And you feel something isn’t right about that but you want to just give up on the girl you want. I thought you really wanted to be with Alyssa…Guess I was wrong” she says turning her attention back to her coffee

This story already has lots of mysteries. Alyssa? Bette?Tina, all have stuff that they dont know/want to share.
I love this story, so many secrets and Tina so confused about the connection and attraction she feels toward Bette.
I can image that Bette isn’t ready to tell what happened to her, my god almost her whole body has been burnt, and we still don’t know what she had to endure more before her stepfather tried to kill her.
Tina and her crush, it is a crush but she didn’t felt sparks with Alyssa but did with Bette. Why is Bette doing her best to help Tina get Alyssa? Is it because she feels guilty toward Alyssa for giving her the cold shoulder?
Can’t wait to read the next chapter, hint, i am free this weekend
I think Bette’ hesitancy stems from the horrific fiery accident that lest the stench of her own burning flesh, the fire raging b4 her eyes AND the scars left basically everywhere but on her face, neck and perhaps hands.
We’ve already been told that her skin is painful & sensitive to the touch.
What beautiful young woman wants to share herself in a physical way after that??? What’s more, I wonder if ‘ol Daddy hadnt tried to sexually assult her and she had to fight off the shame& guilt he undoubtedly would threaten to heap on her.
