Get The Girl—Chapter 3: Hanging Out

“No!” she said way to quickly and panicky like…She clears her throat “Sorry..Uh….If it would be ok with you I will just walk and meet you there”

Ok that’s weird but I was gonna try one more time “Really it’s no trouble…I would-” I say and she cuts me off

“Tina I appreciate it.  Really but…” I hear her sigh “….I’m not comfortable being inside any vehicles” she reluctantly confesses

Oooooookaaaaay…That’s a new one on me…I’m just gonna move on from that and also because her tone suggested I do the same

“Alright then..No problem…So it’s 9:00am now…You want to meet there in an hour”

“Sure…I’ll see you then Kennard” she says and I can’t help chuckle at that

“Sure thing Porter…Bye” I reply with a laugh and end the call the same time she does.  I put my phone down and shake my head.

“She is so mysterious” I mumble to myself as I stare at my closet wondering what to wear.  I don’t know why I care.  It’s not like this a date…..I chuckle at the thought..But still something in me wants to impress her so I want to look my best

    Bette

After having a mini panic attack when I realized I would be venturing out into the public again I managed to get dressed.  I chose my faded skinny jeans, dark blue long sleeve button up blouse with a white tank top underneath that covers the scarring below my neck, and my tan leather boots.  For some reason I don’t feel like wearing my black leather jacket.  I’ve worn it everyday I’ve been at school, my outpatient therapy sessions and I wore it last night.  I stare at it for a second contemplating grabbing it off the hanger but instead I found myself shrugging my shoulders and leaving it..I turn grabbing my cash off the dresser and house key stuffing both and my right front pocket and I make my way to the front door.

“Bette?…Where you off to?” I hear my Aunt Karla inquire from the kitchen as I passed by.  I stopped and stuck my head around the corner..”Bea’s”

“Yeah she’s going to meet a girrrrllll” Lindsey chimes in and I roll my eyes

“Oh really?” My aunt raises an eyebrow at me

    1. I love this story, so many secrets and Tina so confused about the connection and attraction she feels toward Bette.

I can image that Bette isn’t ready to tell what happened to her, my god almost her whole body has been burnt, and we still don’t know what she had to endure more before her stepfather tried to kill her.

Tina and her crush, it is a crush but she didn’t felt sparks with Alyssa but did with Bette. Why is Bette doing her best to help Tina get Alyssa? Is it because she feels guilty toward Alyssa for giving her the cold shoulder?

Can’t wait to read the next chapter, hint, i am free this weekend

      • I think Bette’ hesitancy stems from the horrific fiery accident that lest the stench of her own burning flesh, the fire raging b4 her eyes AND the scars left basically everywhere but on her face, neck and perhaps hands.

We’ve already been told that her skin is painful & sensitive to the touch.

What beautiful young woman wants to share herself in a physical way after that??? What’s more, I wonder if ‘ol Daddy hadnt tried to sexually assult her and she had to fight off the shame& guilt he undoubtedly would threaten to heap on her.
