Everything falling into place
Tina watched the exchange and smiled at how skilled her daughter had become at charming anyone who came within arm’s reach.
“Oscar, do you have time for me this afternoon?” Tina asked as her mind started processing everything she hoped to accomplish in the office that first day.
“Sure thing. I cleared my schedule. We have a lot to catch up on.”
“Great. I’ll see you later.” Tina held out her arms as Oscar too hugged and kissed Angie on the cheek before handing her over. “Wave bye-bye Angie. We need to go see Pat and Hilma.”

After visiting with everyone Angus and Kit picked up Angie, and Tina got to work. She met with Pat to talk about the progress on the education project. She’d been worried that after the nasty break-up with Helena that the heiress might retaliate by interfering with Tina’s livelihood as she’d done with Bette’s at the CAC. Tina wasn’t worried that Helena could do anything to hurt her personally, but the grant could have been jeopardized if revoked out of spitefulness. However, after a conversation with Peggy Peabody Tina was assured that Helena had no jurisdiction to make demands on behalf of the Peabody Foundation and no authority to touch the monies that had already been deposited in the center’s bank account.
Tina also caught up with Hilma on the legal project that she and Melvin had initiated during her leave. The center had received the grant from the PMA Foundation to fully fund a legal aid program for the next five years. In addition, with Melvin’s help they’d secured commitments from several law firms and independent lawyers willing to do pro-bono work to help the center in their endeavor to branch out and provide this very needed service.

While Tina got back into the swing of things at the center, Bette focused on getting her gallery set up. Sandy’s crew had done such good work on building out the West Hollywood house that Bette offered her the job to renovate the gallery without taking any other bids. She knew Sandy’s price was fair but more importantly, the no nonsense businesswoman had the extra manpower to get the job completed within Bette’s time-frame for the grand opening during the winter holiday season.

Wow….what a nice gift! I know Bette is going to be beyond thrilled. And since she has the rest of the collection, she is going to be overwhelmed..
A wedding in the snow….how wonderful. That’s a lot of money for a wedding and only 50 guest? That’s a lot of money. Melvin is being generous. Really generous.
Lovely chapter. Glad that Franklin, Leo and Helena have all been retired.. good luck getting a new job.
Thank you for this….Keep it coming.
Thank you Martha. $250k is excessive amount isn’t it. I have no idea what it would cost, just wanted to emphasize Melvin’s generosity. I appreciate all your support of the authors on this site. I’m also enjoying reading your story.
That is a lot of money for the wedding! But i love how you portait Melvin in this story, he is so different and i actually like him!
So happy that Franklin and Leo were fired, they deserve it.
Sad that this story is almost finished ☹️
I hope you will continu to write!
Bibi28. Yeah after I posted I realized that was probably too much money for a wedding with only 50 guests, however I was more emphasizing Melvin’s generosity and that he was sparing no expense for the wedding and honeymoon. Complete change from how he was portrayed in the show. I am ending the story but hope to finish my other stories and maybe come up with a concept for a new one that hasn’t already been done. Thank you for being such a loyal reader and supporter here.
Sad to see this story coming to an end but I hope you’ll write a sequel to “Out of the mouths of Babes” as you said.
I’ll hold you to that !
izzie, I need to finish this one and Love a Bridge Between Our Differences but sequel to Out of the mouths of Babes is definitely on the agenda. Thank you for holding me to it.
Nice Chapter, thoroughly enjoyed it!
Sorry it’s finishing.
Look forward to the Epilogue

Thank you SassyGran. Your great support is what keeps me writing. I am working on the epilogue. I’m trying something a bit different in how I write it so may take a bit of time to get it right.
Yeah, not in many stories Melvin plays for “good guys”.
By the way – interesting fact – only two actors from TLW won individual awards for acting. It’s Laurel and actor who plays Melvin. Weird, isn’t it about second?
Zhenya, I know it was hard to like Melvin but it would have been nice to see him come around and accept Bette and Tina’s relationship in the show.
I didn’t know about the awards but Ossie Davis is legendary and he was a great actor so not too surprised he was awarded. I’m a big Laurel fan too. Now more for her art than acting but she did a great job on the show as well.
This story is just too sweet. can’t wait for the epilogue.
