    Author Notes:

    A cabin in the woods, a walk by the lake and dinner in front of a fire. What could possibly go wrong?!?

     

    ‘Not at all, did you want to talk or just sit.’?

     

    ‘Is there something you want to talk about?’

     

    ‘Well, you seem a little different today.  I was wondering if something happened.’

     

    ‘I guess I’m just tired, I didn’t sleep much last night.’

     

    ‘You were up early to get everything ready, I would have helped you.’

     

    ‘I wanted to do it.  This weekend means a lot to me.’

     

    ‘Well, we’ll just take it easy and relax this weekend.  We can even sleep late tomorrow if you want.’

     

    ‘That sounds nice.’

     

    They sat for a while talking about nothing in particular until Bette felt Tina shiver.

     

    ‘Tina it’s getting chilly we should probably head back, it’ll be dark soon.’

     

    ‘I thought we’d watch the sun set, please?’

     

    Bette nodded and hoped it wouldn’t be the last time they watched the sun set together.

     

    The walk back was quiet; Bette put her arm around Tina pulling her close trying to keep her warm.  They had forgotten how cool the nights were here and neither had thought to put on a jacket.

     

    When they got back to the cabin Tina asked Bette to start a fire while she got dinner ready.

     

    ‘Okay, we have a fire.  Can I help in here?’

     

    ‘You could pick the wine and set up so we can eat in front of the fire.’

     

    As they ate they talked about their friends and Kit and Ivan.  Tina suggested Bette be more supportive of Kit so she wouldn’t pull away.  Bette just couldn’t understand why all of a sudden Kit wanted to be with a woman who didn’t act like a woman at all.

     

    ‘Maybe you should try to talk to her without being so’

     

    ‘Judgmental?  I hardly have any room to judge anyone else at this point.’

     

    Tina took Bette’s wine glass from her, sat it aside and said, ‘Enough talk about Kit and Ivan’ and kissed her.

     

    ‘Tina?’

     

    ‘Shh, just relax.’

     

    Tina gently lowered Bette to the floor and kissed her again.

     

    ‘Tina I think’

     

    ‘You think too much Bette, I told you I would take care of everything this weekend now just relax.’

    3. wow – well they need to enjoy each other but they really need to keep on talking — not even about the past but how they are feeling right now — please, keep them talking because it is the assumptions that are adding to the fears – great chapter — loving this story

    16. I wonder how they’ll be able to arrive at THE decision by Monday when they clearly not honestly communicating now. Hopefully, these two ladies can salvage the rest of the weekend come Sunday. Good work, asalways.

    17. Hi, I just want to add that I enjoy every bit of the story and that it leave me very ‘drained’ as well coz I feel for both Bette n Tina – in fact, I cried in one of the chapters. Keep up the good work. You write beautifully – the one request I have – pls have a good ending – let Bette ‘alive’ again and Tina to ‘live’ – you know what I mean
