I Will Not Let You Fall

Bette squinted through the smoke as she took a long drag off her cigarette. She made a decision to finally quit smoking once she came back from Mexico. She also decided to take Tina somewhere peaceful and secluded, where there could only be just the two of them. Maybe a weekend getaway to Big Sur or Mendocino, Bette thought dreamily. She was going to be more romantic and lavish. After all, Tina deserved to be treated like the beautiful woman she was.

Pushing herself off the railing, Bette walked up to the coffee table and snuffed out the cigarette into an ashtray before exiting the balcony. She stopped by the kitchen to pour herself a glass of water. Tina’s voice was coming from the living room, so Bette headed in that direction.

”Al, haven’t you learned anything from your relationship with her?” Bette heard Tina say into her phone. ”I don’t understand why can’t you just– No, that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying that–”

Bette arched her brow at the blonde in mild puzzlement while gulping the water down. Tina mouthed Alice’s name and held out her finger for Bette to wait.

The brunette placed the empty glass on the coffee table and plopped down on the sofa, draping Tina’s legs over her lap and snuggling up to her from behind.

”Well, did she say where the hell was she all this time?” Tina questioned, looking very much engrossed in the phone talk.

As Bette stroked Tina’s thigh, she could overhear Alice’s agitated voice, but wasn’t able to make out what she was saying exactly. Judging by Tina’s answers, Bette came to realization that Alice had found out about Helena’s reappearance.

”That’s ridiculous!” Tina let out an incredulous laugh at whatever that was said on the other side of the line. ”She’s such a liar, Al.”

Bette studied the blonde with a slight frown. Tina seemed to be a little too affected by the conversation, and Bette didn’t like one bit that the conversation concerned Helena. She wondered if having Helena here with Tina tomorrow was a wise idea.

”I don’t know, Al…” Tina said, casting a furtive glance at Bette. ”Okay, maybe I’ll ask her… I said maybe… Uh-huh… Yeah, see you tomorrow. Bye.”

    1. I don’t trust Helena at all, i think she is a traitor and will do anything in her power to damage Bette both in “work” and personal life. Shane better don’t let Tina from her eye sight.

Excellent update! Thank you for the update!

    2. Hi Valerie:

Very nice update; it looks like Bette is looking for a way out, with Tina, from her messy life, what intrigues me is, if she plans to run away out of the country with Tina, why is she buying the house? or perhaps she thinks Tina finally won’t go with her and Bette bought the house for Tina; however knowing how possessive and jealous and in love she is, she hardly will leave her girlfriend. I see that you have a character called Henry there, would it be some hetero drama? I hope not. This first part of your chapter 29 is wonderful, but I was wondering about the second part and the outcomes from Bette’s trip to Tijuana, I agree with Bibi, I don’t trust Helena; well, better to wait for your next post, which I’m eagerly expecting to solve some of my questions. Thanks for the story and pps.

      • Hi, proteonomics! I thought I could clarify some things for you before posting the next part. First, the house Bette’s bought is located in another country, where she’s planning to flee to with Tina. And second, no I’m not having any hetero drama with Henry in this story, Henry is simply Bette’s partner in crime, no more no less. :) Thank you for being interested! xoxo

    3. Oh my.
I do not know how Bette is going to get out of this, now she’s the boss of this gang. But
I think she already has plans to get out of this crime life because she would not buy a house just to give Tina, she wants to share it with Tina, and I know how hard it will be for Tina to make that choice.
