I Will Not Let You Fall
”Bette?” she called out softly.
”I’m here,” came the immediate response.
Tina found the brunette resting on the sofa. She took a deep, nervous breath before sitting down on the coffee table near the sofa. There was silence for a while. Tina played with her ring and watched Bette, whose arm was draped over her eyes as she lay still and breathed steady. The blonde wondered when Bette was going to start the conversation, or maybe it was that she wanted her to start it first.
Tina decided to initiate. She cleared her throat and spoke softly, ”How are you feeling?”
Bette carried out a long moment of silence. Despite the neutrality of the question, she seemed to be weighing her answer carefully as if it was a question that required logical reasoning. ”Do you mean physically or mentally?”
Tina frowned, puzzled. ”Um… Both, I guess.”
”Physically I’m feeling okay.”
”And mentally?” Tina encouraged when Bette had gone silent again.
”Mentally I’m angry and confused.”
The blonde lowered her head. ”I understand…”
Bette finally moved her arm off her eyes and looked up at her girlfriend. ”You do?”
Tina lifted her gaze and met Bette’s. She said nothing, just stared into those dark brown eyes, full of hurt, anger, sadness, and somewhere in the midst of it all was love.
”If you understand, then you probably can explain why do I feel like I’m losing you?”
Shaking her head, Tina covered her face with her hands and started sobbing.
Bette contemplated. Tina’s tears were speaking volumes, and Bette was hundred percent sure now that something was wrong. She pulled herself to a seated position, swung her legs over the side of the sofa and leaned forward, supporting herself on her elbows. She then studied Tina and waited for her to calm down.
Wiping her tears away with a tissue, the blonde sat there and stared at the floor without speaking.
”Are you seeing someone else?” Bette began her questioning.
Tina shook her head that was still hung low. ”No.”
”Do you love me?”
Tina nodded, whispering, ”Yes…”
”Do you want to break up?”
At that Tina just shook her head, but kept silent.
The brunette narrowed her eyes. ”You do then.”
”I don’t know, Bette…”

Hi Valerie:
Thank you for this a great, but also very sad chapter, after being in great peril and being betrayed at work, after going through so much physical and emotional pain, Bette has to face the estrangement of her beloved Tina and the attack on her dear friend Marcus.
It is also sad that Tina has to leave Bette because of her fear, justified fear, even with all the love she feels for her girlfriend, and it’s very unfair that corrupted and treacherous people like Helena and the rest of the mob are enjoying their lives. Thanks so much again for the update and please post soon

Hi Valerie,
This chapter made me cry for Bette esspecially and Tina. I understand Tina’s fear and it is a very complicated but to let a Snake like Helena in to her head is just horrible.
Bette is going to let her dark side rule due to Tina’s leaving and Marcus being shot.
I still have faith in the titel and gonna believe everything will be good at the end.
Despite the sad chapter, it was a fantastic update.
Thank you!
