I Will Not Let You Fall

Tossing her phone on the bed, Tina hung her head and stared at the floor, motionless and in trance. Her eyes were puffy from crying and in general she felt sick and weak, probably from having too much to drink yesterday after coming home from the beach.

She and Bette had talked for long following their dramatic reunion. Bette had opened up about her time in prison, Tina had shared her own life stories. They had talked about their old relationship, about good times, about their mistakes and how they regretted them. They had talked about those lost years of not seeing each other. Tina had kept asking for forgiveness for not writing to Bette and not having enough backbone to fight for their love. They had talked till the sunset and then went separate ways.

Tina hadn’t told Bette that she was in a long-term relationship currently, also Bette hadn’t asked. There had been a few instances when Tina had almost confessed to Bette, but eventually she had become aware of how afraid she was of Bette’s reaction. Mostly, she had been afraid that Bette would blow up, run away and disappear for good. So she had kept it secret.

As soon as Tina had arrived home, all thrilled and overwhelmed with her reawakened feelings for Bette, she had realized that keeping Brenda a secret wasn’t an option. With these depressing thoughts Tina had opened a bottle of wine. She had drank it alone and had wept for Brenda, for Bette and for herself. Grieving for Brenda and longing for Bette, Tina had concluded that she would have to do the right thing, and at this point the right thing was to follow her heart, even if it meant hurting Brenda. Although Bette hadn’t promised her anything, Tina was sure that she was going to die in misery if she didn’t fight for the chance to love Bette and be loved back so passionately again.

Tina jumped slightly when she heard the front door fly open and the faraway sound of her girlfriend’s voice. Closing her eyes for a moment, Tina took a nervous breath in and out. She got to her feet and walked out of the bedroom while her stomach was shrinking from anxiety.

”Baby!” Brenda exclaimed cheerfully as Tina saw her cross the threshold, dragging a suitcase behind. ”I’m so happy to be home, you won’t believe! My mother drove me nuts!” the woman laughed.

Tina watched her cautiously as she walked down the stairs in a slow pace. Her feet barely touched the floor when Brenda ran up to her and squeezed her tight in a big bear hug.

”Oh baby… I’ve missed you so so much,” Brenda cooed into Tina’s ear.

Tina swallowed. Somehow, it felt different being held by her girlfriend. Somehow, Tina couldn’t relax in her girlfriend’s arms like she had before. At this thought her eyes began welling up with tears. She couldn’t help it. Everything just felt so intense inside her.

”I’ve got a present for you!” Brenda announced as she inched back and was ready to head over for the present when the sight of the blonde made her stop dead in her tracks. ”Tina? Are you crying?!”

Tina kept her head as low as possible, as if not trusting her girlfriend with her vulnerable state.

Brenda reached for her face and forced Tina to lift her head. ”My God, you look terrible. What happened? Why are you crying?” the woman pushed, her brows furrowed in deep concern.

Tina pulled her head out of Brenda’s hold and turned her gaze away, silently asking for a moment to regain her strength. Brenda stood still and waited. Tina was trembling as she let the tears roll down her cheeks. She then looked at her girlfriend with regret and spoke weakly, but resolutely, ”Brenda, we need to talk.”

    1. Hi Valerie:

Wow, that was a wonderful chapter, finally, Bette and Tina can see the light at the end of the tunnel, at least the light of hope, after all those years, after all that suffering, now they are two grown-up women, with the freedom of chose their future.

I’m sorry for Brenda, but Tina can’t hide her feelings for Bette, yes she has to talk to Brenda.

I’m glad Bette is facing her feelings.

Thank you so much for this chapter again, and I’ll be eagerly waiting for the next one.

    2. Hi, thanks for the another great chapter!

I must say i like, no, better way i must say i love this Tina (i hope she’ll not change her mind about break-up with Brenda). And i love Bette’s words – ” ”I do,” she whispered, her voice cracking and her throat burning. ”Of course I do. I always have.””

But i must say i have bad feelings about mysterious woman with blue eyes which Bette bumped in parole office building. I have my guess who it was, and it’s might be not good.

Ok, waiting for the next update.

    3. Wow, amazing chapter Valerie!

Bette and Tina took a few steps in the right direction to reconcile. Bette who slowly let her walls down and admitted that she believed in their love, always had.

Tina knows she must break it of with Brenda, so she is really free to rebuild a future with Bette.

Hmm, you like to tease us Valerie, the woman with the blue eyes. You must promise to not give us to much drama, i can’t handle it anymore, Bette endured already so much and deserve to rebuild her life in peace.

      • Hi!

“APOLOGIES – we get MANY spam registrations. While banning the bad requests, some good ones got swept up in the purge, including Western Skies. I have rolled back the site a day so her stories are back. Anything posted in the last day has been over-written. Again…apologies!”

So, if comments was left after rolled back date – they’re gone.

    4. my comment is missing…

i remember talking about certain drama would inevitable occurred in the next chapters. at the very least, from Tina’s parent who never like Bette since the beginning. they always think Bette is bad news for Tina (even before they knew that Bette was a criminal). not to mention, if Bette being compare to Brenda, who is a success heart surgery doctor, they would think Tina has out of her mind to let Brenda go over Bette (well….any parent would think the same.. ). Tina has to proof herself to Bette that this time she will fight for their love in front of her parent / family.

another drama, perhaps from Vanessa. she is young and beautiful, sharing the same passion over music and has managed to seduce Bette to her bed. in the past, Bette always in constant jealous over girls around Tina, I think it’s time for Tina to feel a little insecure over Bette.

      well…that’s my opinion.. :-)

one mystery about blue eyes girl…there’s only 1 blue eyes girl that has been mentioned in the previous chapter…not sure if it’s the same girl tho.. mystery…mystery… :-)

anyway.. Valerie, any chance Bette would be famous for her music??

    5. Love your story a lot. I’m sorry for Brenda, she was never the one for Tina and that sucks for her because she’s a decent person but … that’s what it is …Please post soon !

    6. Tina’s parents are going to be livid when they find out she left Brenda for Bette but the heart wants what it wants. Im looking forward to the conversation. You write this strory so realistically. PPS

    7. Thank you so much for this wonderful chapter.I just read this one now. So emotional. I hope Tina’s family won’t mess things up for them this time. I just hope they end well. Please post ASAP.
