I Will Not Let You Fall

”Of course. I have everything under control,” Bette grinned slyly.

”Uh-huh,” Tina narrowed her eyes and finally let go of the brunette.

When Bette walked out of the kitchen, Tina remained leaning against the counter. She stared at nothing in particular, surrounded by silence and lost in thought.

In a few minutes Bette returned to the kitchen, putting on her blazer and straightening the cuffs. ”T, do you wanna join us?”

Tina contemplated. She didn’t really have any plans for the rest of the day. If she stayed home alone, she would torture herself to death while mulling over Bette’s job offer.

    ”Yeah, sure,” she agreed.

They left the house and picked Chad up. They had a good time at the museum. Technology wasn’t exactly Tina’s thing, but she still had a fun and educational experience, not to mention the pleasure of watching Bette interact with Marcus’ son. Their bond gave Tina an opportunity to reflect on building a family with Bette, on having a child together. Tina was fully certain that Bette loved children and wanted one. Even in the past when they had been young and dating, Tina had noticed the way Bette was around children – always so warm and caring and playful with them. The blonde knew Bette would make a great mother. It was only a matter of time until they healed enough to conform to the standards of responsible parenthood.

Standing on the sidewalk, Tina studied the three-storey brick-and-mirrored office building in front of her. It was a small building, and Bette’s law firm occupied it entirely. The sign on the front said Shepherd & Assoc. | Criminal Defense Attorneys, which held Bette’s New Zealand surname. Tina craved to see Bette’s real surname shining gloriously on the sign. She felt such pride in Bette for having accomplished such amazing feats so quickly. Despite many, many years of immense hardship, Bette had managed to recover, grow and fight for her goals. She really had blossomed into a strong, inspirational business woman.

With a smile, Tina broadened her shoulders, balancing herself into a confident pose as she finally went inside. Greeting the security receptionist, Tina looked around the hall, and she once again got added evidence that Bette had excellent taste. Spacious and dignified in appearance, the interior reflected a blend of luxury modern and natural elements of glass, wood and stone – all set in rhythmical harmony. The click of Tina’s heels echoed off the hardwood floor as she crossed the hall and started toward the elevator.

    1. So, first – i’m not sure it was a good idea for Bette and Tina working together. And not only together, but Bette being Tina’s boss. I understand Tina’s concerns about it when she talked with Dan. Let’s see how it will go. And second – as i understand they want to keep their relationship in secret on work? Not sure how they manage to do it also.
Third – i like how Bette asked forgiveness for her behavior when she even could take a call from Tina. I hope this situation wouldn’t repeat in the future.

So, thank you for the chapter again and waiting for the next!

    2. Great to see you not forget this story!

Like Tina, i also hope when Bette would be dealing with her competition on the work she will be smart and doesn’t try to remember her past.

      Thanks!

    3. Hi, Valerie

Great chapter, so much love and listening, still, both girls (now women) are growing.

I like that Tina talked with Dan about her fears. And Dan is correct, it depends on the maturity of the couple that working together could be an obstacle or great support in their relationship.

But, what worries me is that all the publicity about the new firm may bring curiously and perhaps Interpol will dig on who is who and many could be caught.

Another fear I have is that Bette would go back to her old ways if her competitors keep pressing her.

Anyway, I hope things would keep going well and even better for them.

Thank you for the wonderful story.

      P

    4. Very nice I loved it, and I love that Tina will be working for her. I think in the long run it will give Tina peace of mind being in the loop a little more.
Thank you for finding time in your busy life to honor us with another chapter

    5. First of all, Thank you for the update..
I love this story.. Since the very beginning .. It’s so heart breaking to see how life had been so unfair for Bette if only Melvin cared about his own daughter she wouldn’t have to live her life in crime, so upset because how Tina couldn’t be strong enough to be her shelter, so in love with the Mature Tina who could start appreciated her love one, so mad with Helena who couldn’t let Bette and Tina alone with their new found happiness.. But finally happy when i see Bette and Tina are in a way to reconnect again… Love then both.. :)
