    “Yeah –my mom said that your mom died a couple of years ago – I’m sorry “ Tina swallowed – it wasn’t a subject she was up to discussing “Thank you – anyway –my other mom did have the patience of a saint – I don’t have that level of tolerance “ Bette smiled –

    Bette smiled – Tina seemed refreshingly normal – a pushy mom didn’t seem to sit too heavily on her shoulders.
    “My dad is the ambitious one “ Bette explained “I would say that my mother can be ambitious but she is much cleverer at getting what she wants “
    “My mother is not exactly subtle – this is a new one for her though. You obviously made a good impression on her “

    Bette tried and failed to look modest
    “I can charm the birds out of the trees if I need to . I think that plans were already under way when I met

    The waiter came across and Bette placed her order – she watched to see if Tina passed the “ stick of celery a week “ test. She ordered fresh wild salmon and potatoes and salad with a water cress dressing. Bette put another tick in the plusses box. The atmosphere between them was easy – they both swapped stories and found themselves laughing and enjoying themselves more than they had for a while. When the desert trolley came round Bette shamelessly ordered a piece of chocolate cake and urged Tina to do the same. The blonde smiled at her and accepted the offer – they both cleared their plates and got through a bottle of wine.
    While Tina was at the bathroom Bette glanced at her watch – it was almost 10pm. They had been talking for two and a half hours and it felt like they had known each other for a long time. Bette wanted to see
    Tina again and she was going to tell her that when she came back. She watched Tina as she returned – letting her see that she was checking her out. Tina sat down and took a drink of her second coffee
    “Thank you for tonight Bette “

    “Can I just say something ?”

    “Of course “

    “I really like you and I want to see you again. We just seem to click and I don’t remember when I have
    laughed so much. Please can we see each other again ?”
    Tina loved hearing those words from Bette – she had been trying to work out how to ask Bette if they could see each other again and the brunette had beaten her to it. Tina smiled
    “I would love to see you again Bette “

    2. Thanks for posting! I love the shenanigans that Tina and Bette are plotting. Let’s get their moms a little more desperate that their plans seems to fail a few more times. ;-)
      It’s great that T + B both decided to get to know the other one before thinking about a real date.

      It is good to see that they take the time to know each other, they are already interested in each other and are willing to take the time and not jump immediately in a (sexual) relationship.
