Bette laughed and reached for another piece of bread. She noticed that Tina’s wine glass was empty – she quickly topped both glasses up and looked at the blonde. She was very pretty with her innocent face and lovely hazel eyes – Bette lent over and kissed her
“Its nice to have someone to cook for “ Bette commented
“I would like to cook for you sometime “ Tina said
“Is that an invite ?” Bette asked
Tina nodded before realising what she had done – her apartment was by no means up to the standards of Bette’s house. Maybe if she spent an entire day getting rid of three years worth of clutter and junk and actually did all those pesky little chores that she never got around to – well yes – maybe then she would not die of shame if Bette spent the night with her.
“Okay – how about a day next week ? “Tina invited

Bette laughed and was about to kiss Tina again when her phone rang. She reached across and picked the receiver

“Hello mom “ Bette looked at Tina and grinned “Yes of course it is – no – I don’t know what my plans are for the weekend…. I am going to make a start on converting that room to a study … I don’t know – how’s dad ? Good – where is he ? Right. I am in the middle of dinner now – prawn stir fry – yeah -I was just in the mood to cook tonight – okay – I’ll call you tomorrow mom – take care – bye “
Bette put the phone down and shook her head. She picked her wine up and took a long drink – the wine was perfect for the meal they were having. She went back to her food and ate two more mouthfuls before looking at Tina

Bette returned to her meal – she knew that it was so early in their relationship but she was beginning to think that this relationship WAS different – there was just something about them and their relationship that was unique. And she couldn’t imagine being in a serious relationship that was a secret from her parents.
