“What are you wearing babe ?”
Tina came through to the bedroom – she’d been in the bath and now she was about to make a decision about what she was going to wear to have Sunday lunch with Bette’s parents.
“As little as I was wearing when you left the room about 30 minutes ago “ Bette replied looking up from the magazine she was reading
“Are you not getting ready ?”
“Not yet “
“Its 11:40 – we are leave in 40 minutes “
“I don’t need 40 minutes to get a shower and get changed “
“You like lying around like that don’t you ?”
Bette looked down “ Naked you mean ?”
“Well yeah “
“Thought you would approve “
“Oh I do – I really do – I just want to know what I should wear “
Bette threw her magazine down and gave Tina a long and very appreciative look. Tina smiled – it was the most huge boost to her ego when Bette looked at her like that.
“I would say that you were undressing me with your eyes except I’m naked”
“I know – I was just becoming aware of that fact “
Tina smiled – Bette was pretty impossible to flatten.
“What are you going to be wearing in about an hour’s time ?”
“I brought a few different things over – if you are so worried – check out my overnight bag”
“Why didn’t I think of that ?”
Bette shrugged and picked the magazine up again. Tina looked through Bette’s bag.
“What are these ?”
“The gifts ? – just a little something for mom and dad from the two of us “
“What are they ?”
“Cuban cigars for dad – he likes the illegality of them and a book for mom “
“From both of us ?”
“I thought it would be nice”
“You always buy your folks things – you don’t have to include me “
“I do “ Bette said “Its no big deal “
Tina looked at Bette – she really didn’t get how generous she was – it didn’t occur to her that other people were not as kind as her.
“Thank you – I kind of did something too “
Bette looked up “What ?”
“I sent them a huge bunch of flowers – it should be arriving in about 20 minutes time “
Bette smiled “Thank you babe – that was really nice of you “
“Well – they are going to get sick of feeding me – it was the least I could do “
Bette got off the bed and went across to Tina
“You know that no one has ever bought my flowers for them – thank you “
Bette’s kiss left Tina in no doubt just how grateful she was. Tina wrapped her arms round Bette’s waist and returned the kiss
“I just feel like I am floating “
“You do ?”
“Yeah – you just have no idea how much you have changed my life – you have changed my attitude – thank you “
“You just needed a helping hand and its been great to see you changing and growing in self confidence – I love you very much “
“I love you too “ Tina stroked Bette’s face “I just want them to like me “
“They adore you “ Bette said “ You have already won them over “
“Would that be before or after I kissed their daughter’s face off ?”
“Probably “ Bette replied “So what are you going to wear ?”
“What are you wearing ?”
“Jeans, boots and a white shirt probably”
“Shall I copy you so we look really silly ?”
Bette smirked “ No – I think my mother would be amused but my father would have us committed to the nearest lunatic hospital “
“Shame “ Tina kissed Bette again before pulling away and opening her wardrobe door so she could decide what to wear “Now go and get a shower – you smell of sex “
Bette smiled “Do I ?”
“I have had a shower and a bath so far and I still think I smell of you – so yes – you smell like you fucked all night “
Bette nodded “Well there might be a reason for that – we did “
Tina slapped Bette’s ass as the brunette collected her wash bag and headed into Tina’s bathroom.

Wonderful Sunday morning. And lunch with the Porters is an opportunity for Tina to get know Bette’s parents better. Doing the dishes with Melvin is a great opportunity for Tina to get to know him. He is obviously a very important person in Bette’s life and has played a major role in shaping who she is. And to engage in conversation in such a casual activity can only be a benefit for both in forming their new family.
Rosemary may be the key to formulating a reasonable relationship between Emma and Bette. She also may be a good resource for Tina as well. Perhaps Rosemary can get to Emma and help her understand how Tina is reacting to Emma’s comments. How would Emma feel if Tina was saying those type of things to her? How would she feel if she was indicating that she was lazy, overly ambitious on her career, completely inept in her personal life, lacked empathy for those who had less resources and opportunities, and incapable of showing love or appreciation for the positive things in life?
We know very little about Emma. We know that she does not know how to conduct a reasonable relationship with her adult daughter and that she misses her life partner Kate. We know she and the elder Porters seem to have a very good and close friendship. But from what we do know, Emma either has to make some changes in her approach to Tina or she will lose the relationship with Tina and certainly any potential relationship with Bette. And if there is problems with Bette and Tina, then Rosemary and Melvin will curtail their relationship with Emma as well. Then all Emma will have is her job. Emma has to have a break through moment or she will not be a part of Tina’s life.
I really like this story…thank you for this and all the other stories you have written. Waiting for the next chapter(s).

I really hope that Rosemary talks with Emma and let her know she is in danger of losing Tina with how she handle and talk to Tina.

I loved this chapter mom and Dad Porters for lunch is great.. more of getting to know each other with out the stress of Emma’s stares and sour pussy face. Hope what ever trip she went on she had that stick pull out.. lol. Thank you. Waiting for more.. enjoy your time off.
Thanks for this nice Sunday dinner. I like how relaxed Tina can be with Bette’s parents. The scene with her and Melvin doing the dishes felt so natural like they’re use to share this chore for years already.
Looking forward to see how Tina will take care of Bette, spoil her and do nice things for her. The Sunday Papers were a very nice and thoughtful touch. Doing small things for your partner often mean so much more than the grand gestures.
