    CHAPTER SIXTEEN: It’s A Small World After All

     

     

    MONDAY.

    New York City.

     

    You can call Sam Makavejev a whole lot of things when she’s lying unconscious on top of a bed, lost to the world in her favorite hobby. Her friends often teased her about it, but she paid them no mind. She had gained some semblance of acceptance for the fact that she was a snorer.. a drooler.. a flailer.. a mumbler.. a toss and turner.. a spooner.. a cuddler.. and yes, even an unconscious farter. It bothered her when she was young, but she grew out of it eventually. After all, how can you change something that happens in your sleep? Impossible, she thought in resignation. Yet amidst those endearing – but oftentimes hilarious and embarrassing – habits of hers, it should be noted that unlike her girlfriend of three years, she was no sleepwalker. Which is why when she stumbled out of bed at four in the morning and dragged her sleepy self towards the bedroom door of her girlfriend’s Manhattan penthouse, a groggy Helena woke up and worriedly called after her – thinking that Sam was adding the sleepwalking thing to her nighttime repertoire. Thankfully, she was wrong; there was only room for one sleepwalker in their relationship. I’m being summoned, was Sammy’s weakly mumbled explanation, her eyelids drooping so low it was a wonder that she didn’t hit the wall or bump into any furniture. Go back to sleep hon, she followed up, grabbing for a Yale jacket nearby and zipping it up to her neck – keenly aware that under it, she was wearing Helena’s Led Zeppelin shirt that was far too inappropriate for the doorman to see. Not that it was skimpy or revealing, just that it was ratty and so worn-out that it was embarrassing for an heiress to be seen in it given that it had holes under the arm and loose threads hanging out – it was comfortable though, a fact that saved it from being donated to the salvation army. What does she want? Helena yawned, sitting up in bed. God knows what, Sam slipped on a pair of slippers and shrugged. Rest up, I’ll be back in no time, Sam flashed her lover a brief smile before disappearing outside the door. Helena just sighed and laid back down, allowing herself to be enticed back to slumber by her comfy pillow and the scent of Sam’s lingering perfume on the covers. If it was any other person, she would’ve dragged her girlfriend back to bed and shook her awake because she was just dreaming; cause really, why on earth would anyone summon someone out of bed at such an early hour if it weren’t an emergency? But she voiced no objections, cause this time it was different. Her girlfriend was F4′s Sam, Bette Porter’s right-hand woman; and if she said she was being summoned, then she sure as hell was being summoned. And for a person like her Sammy, who valued her sleep as much as she valued her own life to willingly get out of bed; Helena knew that it was Bette doing all the summoning. If it were Alice and Shane, she was sure that Sam would’ve told them to fuck off and call her up again at a decent hour. That was the normal reaction for her other friends, but it was different with Bette; Sam could never say no to her bestfriend. Their leader could be demanding at times, but oh well, Bette was Bette and regardless of how they grumbled at the absurdity of some of her demands and orders, her friends followed her loyally and blindly.

    15. Either Tina’s donning scuba gear and looking for that pendant, or when a more sober Porter realizes what she’s done, she’s having that pond drained. At least I *hope* so. Alchemy, you’re breaking my heart, but that’s not going to stop me from wanting another 60 odd pages. Brilliant chapter, I love this story! Thanks :)

    20. Wow, amazing Alch. Before I started reading, I went out for supplies and made sure I was good to go because I did not want to stop reading. I unplugged the phone and turned off my cell even. AWESOME! Love child of MC hammer and Lady Gaga, LOL, good stuff. I’ve always felt that way about heart spotted clothes, like they were to be cupid’s target practice range LOL. Thanks for the post.     21. I had every intention of reading the chapter in a couple of sittings, but somehow never found a place to stop! Fantastic, Alchemy! At the end, I imagined Tina making a swan dive into that pond and Bette’s security detail pulling her out with necklace in hand. Love the way you offset the sadness with so many hilarious images and situations.

It took me awhile to get through this one,but it was awesome.I can’t remember last time when I laughed so hard reading a fanfic,Bette in the beginning ‘torturing’ all the F4’s members – it was priceless.Then I have to say that I’m a huge Tina fan,and there’s no fanfic in which I liked Bette more than Tina,until I read this one.Your Bette is really good,even if she’s a bitch sometimes,a smart ass or whatever,shes’ exceptionally well written,I love her lol.But this chapter I don’t know,I would go against the flow and I would say that I don’t want TiBette together anymore(don’t hit me!).The last part made me hate Tina a little,I don’t know it doesn’t sound right but that’s it.This vulnerable Bette is too damn cute to resist,and now I really want Jill to be interested in Bette(oh my,what I ask for?),so this way Bette will get a little bit of loving,granted that she’s a ‘heartless drunken bitch’ but she didn’t deserve Tina to give her back the necklace,what she’s supposed to do now?Anyway if you get them back(okay more like when) someone should go ‘fishing’ for that pendant,and I hope that someone wouldn’t be Bette.Waiting (not so) patiently for the next update.Thanks.

Truly worth every minute of my time. An excellent, entertaining read from start to finish.     28. I only watched bits and pieces of the taiwanese version and on the korean version it was there but not in this context.. i cannot wait how u would incorporate the maid part.. such a great and entertaining story.. one of the best.. pls post again soon.. ur avid fan..:)
