Just The Girl 2.0 – Chapter Two (based loosely on HYD: Returns)

“Will do. Love you too.” Tina looked back and smiled, grabbing the bag from the couch and slinging it against her shoulder.

With a wistful smile and a peaceful sigh, Bette turned around and resumed her lazy observance of the casual activities happening below their balcony, fascinated by the relaxing effect of taking in the view. Not a second had passed after she had heard the front door closing did she hear the unmistakable sound of it opening again.

“Babe?” She heard Tina call out.

    “Did you forget something?”

“Nope.” The blonde replied, her footsteps echoing inside the room. A loud clunk told Bette that a heavy bag was deposited haphazardly unto the wooden floor. “I knew it was too good to be true. Those weren’t our dear friends at the door, it was a guy from the convenience store downstairs.”

“Really?” Bette asked, stepping inside the suite and walking towards the blonde who was standing beside the dining table. “What does he want?”

“He delivered this..” Tina shook a brown paper bag in her hands and showed it to the young Porter. “It seems that Helena heard word of your accident from Sam, she called the hotel this morning and asked to have a few things sent up to our room.”

“How nice of her.” Bette smiled warmly, touched by her older friend’s thoughtfulness. “What did she send?”

“Food, I guess.” Tina shrugged, sticking her tongue out as she struggled to remove the various adhesives that were used to seal the bag. Whoever packed this thing downstairs was one overzealous man.

“Really?! Oh good! I’m kinda famished.” Bette rubbed her hands together and smacked her lips in anticipation. Preoccupied with scratching, she barely ate her breakfast this morning. “What does she have for me?”

“I dunno, let’s see..” Losing her patience, Tina tore it open instead and stuck her hand inside the brown paper bag. Carefully, she extracted its contents one by one. “We have.. Jell-O.. jelly snack cups.. um.. peanut butter and jelly.. almond jelly.. mint jelly.. iced jelly sticks.. and erm.. assorted jellybeans..”

    “…”

    “Babe?”

    “I lost my appetite.”

“Figured you would.” The blonde sighed. “Helena has a wicked sense of humor huh?”

    1. Brilliant, as always, Alchemy. Your dialogue and descriptions are so funny. The image of itchy, swollen Bette is just hilarious, especially the breakfast scene. I always look forward to your posts as they brighten any day! Thanks so much for continuing this story.

    2. A hairbrush is a good way to help relieve the itch. Damn jellyfish and other stinging things. I guess that the economic situation is even hitting the fan fiction stories. I love Bette and Tina with their humor along with their love.

    3. Poor Bette, she is too young to be in this economical dilemma. Is it that bad?, is she afraid she has to reduce the number of employees by firing them?, O Alchemy, I’m really hooked up and want to know what will happen :)

    4. Okay… after the fun in the sun with Alice and Shane, and Bette’s… unfortunate (but funny)… bite on her derrière, I’m now worried. Why are the number of employees significant? Is Bette worried about the sheer amount of people she’ll have in her employ? What’s going on with Melvin? What’s happening with PGC? It’s all very ominous, but very gripping. Love the story, thanks Alchemy.

    5. Have I told you I LOVE this story?? Their bantering is so funny & I love both the tenderness & the roughness between them. As you know the “…” are my favorites- they speak volumes..I mean I can SEE the expressions on their faces! And now you leave us hanging tooo…You are SO VERY AWESOME!!

    6. Ok ack to reality humhum. Number of emplyee making Bette seek? Why? trouble trouble trouble. Tat was great love it as usual and sooooo funny. PPVS

    7. That was great, funny about Alice and Shane. Poor Bette about the itchy lol, that was funny and cute. Now let see whats going with the Porters business. Please post more, thanks!
