    L’Amour – Part 16

She goes in looking for *****?

She goes in, hoping to find love, but not expecting it.

Are you saying she thinks Im the one putting in less effort?

    Shes wary of you, Dane.

The words Shane uttered haunted her. She wondered if it was a mistake that she kept her feelings inside. She kept trying to protect Alice and not pressure her and yet her efforts kept backfiring. Im such an idiot.

Shane looked at her puzzled, Why?

Because I think Ive been pushing her away. Dana stood up, Thanks. I have to go.

Shane waited a couple of minutes before picking up her cellphone. She thought, Why do I have to the goddamn cupid. Yo, Al. Its Shane. You better get your act together before your woman tires of your bullshit.

You think I dont know that, Shane?

Well, no I dont. Dana was just over here. I swear if you hurt her and Tina, I will personally hunt you down and make sure you regret it. Shane flipped her phone shut.

I cant believe she just hung up on me, Alice mulled before calling the CAC, James, could you put Bette on the phone? This is her friend, Alice.

    Bette Porter.

    Its me. Are you busy?

    Not really.

    Good. We need to talk.

We do. Can I ask you something?

    Ok.

That necklace you gave Dana, when did you decide on that?

After you and Tina saw me, I realized that whatever came of it, I needed her and I needed for myself to know that we could still be friends. I missed her so much. Surprising, I know. But I missed her. The necklace was a way of letting her know, we could be ok. That I didnt want to not have her in my life.

As I saw it, it looked more like a sign of commitment.

I didnt think of it that way at the time.

I think Dana thinks its more than what you anticipated. I just want to make sure youre aware of that.

I didnt think of it that way. Um, but its good. Its a good thing.

    1. I think this story is coming to an end. There’s another couple chapters that need to be edited and it’s either the end of this one or the beginning of a short story. Any ideas or requests? My email is sptmbrgrl@hotmail.com if you don’t want to write a comment.
