    Life Through a Viewfinder

    August 2015, Los Angeles

This is my favorite time of day.  It’s 5:00am and she is sleeping so peacefully.  I still have an hour before the alarm will sound and the day will begin.  I will cherish each and every one of the next 3600 seconds.  After that, the craziness of the day will overtake us and this still peace will be gone until tomorrow.

I absolutely adore our two children.  They are such beautiful and wonder filled little gifts from God.  After Angelica was born, we debated on when the right time would be to have another baby.  We decided that we would start trying when Angie turned 2.  In January 2012, Aidan Thomas Kennard-Porter rushed into the world before we could even make it to the hospital.  In fact, he was born on this very bed and has been in a hurry ever since!  He is such a little ball of energy, but on the upside, he uses up so much every day that he’s always been a great sleeper.  It’s times like these that I am thankful for that fact so that I can lie here, uninterrupted, next to the woman that I love more than life itself.

I know it’s my personality to tend to get hung up on the details. Things like aperture, depth of field, ISO, etc… but when I photograph her, it doesn’t matter what settings I choose, the end result will always be the same…perfection.  I see the beauty within her that could never be fully captured in a photograph, but what is underneath the skin and bone, what is so deep within her that no one else sees.  She is the extension and completion of my very soul and I would be lost without her by my side.

She looks exceptionally breathtaking this morning and I can’t let this opportunity pass me by.  I slowly and carefully get up as to not disturb her.  I grab one of my cameras from the drawer inside my nightstand.  They seem to be everywhere in this house, but it helps me to always be on the ready to capture moments like this one before it’s gone.  I tiptoe to the foot of the bed and bring the camera to my eye, take in a deep breath and exhale slowly, then…click.

you tell from my heart entirely when you wanted a drama-free history, life itself is a drama at times and sometimes enjoy a wonderful escape in Romanticism through stories.
I loved every minute of it, because you wrote wonderfully the true love between two people.
