    Life Through a Viewfinder

    March 2009, Los Angeles

Angelica Grace Kennard-Porter came into this world at exactly 3:00pm on March 12, 2009.  I had stayed up late the night before looking at all the pictures I had taken of T over the previous 9 months.  It’s amazing to see how her body grew and changed to accommodate our baby girl.  Every picture took me right back to those moments.  The morning sickness, the strange cravings, the foot rubs, the crazy hormone surges, nights spent trying to satiate her sexual desires, the first time we felt the baby kick…  What an incredible journey.  I finally fell asleep around 2:00am.

It was a chilly LA morning.  T woke me around 6:00am to go for a walk because she was feeling restless.  Little did we know that her body was trying to tell her that it was time to have this baby.  We didn’t even get half way down the block when her water broke!  I ran back to the house to grab the hospital bag and met Tina at the car.  I called Kit on the way to the hospital and she took care of calling everyone else and letting them know what was happening.  Then, I called Dr. Wilson to let her know we were on our way.

It was a long day for T, but she was amazing!  It was so hard to see her in pain and I will never be able to thank her enough for what she put her body through for us to have our precious little girl.  She was even gracious enough to allow me to take pictures during the labor and birth.  I have tried to document our life together from that very first day in New York.  I want our children and all future generations to be able to know our story and share in these moments with us.  She is exhausted now, but I can see the joy and love in her eyes for our little angel as she holds her for the first time.

“Hello Angelica, I’m your Mommy and this is your Mama B.  We are so glad you are finally here.”

I can’t help the tears that are falling now.  I never knew my heart could hold so much love and this is just the beginning.

you tell from my heart entirely when you wanted a drama-free history, life itself is a drama at times and sometimes enjoy a wonderful escape in Romanticism through stories.
