Bette: “no, not that type of love”
There was silence.
Louise: “wow, did she say that she is in love with you?”
Bette: (her voice trembling) “yeah, if I remember well she said ‘I’m in love, but it doesn’t mean I will jump to have sex with her’”
Louise: (laughing through the line) “that means that she could jump in your bed”
Bette: “NO…, she also said that ‘sometimes two persons love each other very much but can’t live together’”
Louise: “yeah, I understand that it’s the story of my life…, but you know, it’s a waste, a waste of time, a waste of love a waste of life, you two should do everything possible to avoid that waste, and I think in great part it’s up to you, my friend”
Bette: “I don’t know, Louise, I am how I am, I’m very sure of what I want in life and I pursue an accomplish it”
Louise: “what is the joy on that if in your way you left behind the people who love you and support you, you know, they also have dreams to pursue”
Bette: (sighing) “I’m not that way…, I let Angie grow and express herself even when I disagree with her”
Louise: “I know, but it’s different with your child than with your lover, it always is”
Bette: “we were good, I worked hard to give her and Angie the best, I think I was a good provider and Tina never complained”
Louise: “of course, but it’s not about money and things…, you know, same happened with my mom, she is a brilliant mind, she graduated with summa cum laude in physics, my dad was also smart, but he graduates as an engineer and got a good job when my mom finished her Ph.D. she got an offer from the university, my dad said that the payment wasn’t much, that he would be able to pay her the same or more than the university if she stayed at home raising my two brothers and me, my mom stayed at home start tutoring college students and neighbors; when we all went to college, she divorced my dad, and got a position in the NASA”
Bette: “I’m happy for her…, so, she became into an emancipated woman from the patriarchal oppression”
