Love in Control – Chapter II – Savannah (Part 2)

They smiled at each other.   It was the little things, as always, that reminded Hyacinthe about how special whatever it was that Jade and Rian shared continued to be.  At least she knows that I’m in their corner, and would always support them.

Jade felt that there was one other thing she needed to ask.

“Mom, I’d like to ask you something, and I hope you tell me your honest response. It’s important.”  She paused and plunged ahead.

“Because of this rift in your family, have you ever wished that Rian had chosen a guy …”

Hyacinthe clasped Jade’s face with both hands again and cut in sharply, frowning, her blue eyes flashing, “Jade Wetmore, never ever, ever think that I would wish Rian to be anything other than happy!   She is very, very happy with her choice. And so am I!  She is very lucky to be with you, Jade. Very lucky, indeed.”

    “That’s my honest answer.”

Jade bit her lip and blinked rapidly to stop sure tears that were about to fall. Hyacinthe drew her into a tight embrace.

After a while, Rian’s mom released her embrace with a start and then consulted her watch. “Oh, my goodness! Jade, darling, if you plan to see that Amber lady in Tiffany’s you’d better tell her now. It’s 9:30 am already, and she left her cell number for you to reach her through, in case you want to see them.”

Jade blew a breath out as she pulled her phone out from her backpocket. “Can you please excuse me?”

What a great mom. I hope Rian and I come close to being like her if, or when, we have one of our own. She walked to the living room as she tapped out Amber’s number, thinking “Oookay, deep breaths, one step at a time. First, take a look at the rings. See if there are any other ones in store that could suit Rian better, and then pick one.”

Next, think about how to set this scene – when I ask Rian to marry me.

After she hung up with the call to Amber, she heaved a nervous sigh and walked back to the kitchen. “Mom, I’m heading out. Will you be alright…” she started as she tucked the phone back into her pocket. Think I should change into something dressier for that appointment.

Hyacinthe asked softly, at same time, with a knowing glimmer in her eye, “Jade Wetmore, you’re going to propose, aren’t you?”

    1. So pleased to read your story!

I don’t care that it isn’t a traditional Bette and Tina story line, but i wouldn’t mind if you give them more time in it ;-)

That was such a heart warming talk between Jade and Rian’s mom.

      Thanks for the update!

    2. It was a little early for my Pinot Noir, but well worth it, as it perfectly paired with your story. In fact, all of your stories are a full-spectrum sensory experience for me. Like a good glass of wine, I get lost in the color, bathe in the aroma, and relish the taste and texture of your scenes. Your give your protagonist characters a rich personality that I can’t help but instantly root for. While Bette and Tina initially drew me this this site and your stories, I really enjoy your other characters just as much.

Aerin virtually stole the words out of my mouth. If I had a professor like Rian during my undergraduate years, perhaps I would have gotten better than a C+ in my Art History class. I may have even been persuaded to change majors with such impassioned lectures.

As I was reading the dialogue between Jade and Rian’s mom, I was thinking that’s the type of mom I wish we had and we all would become. Well done.

    3. I normally am only interested in Bette and Tina stories, but not with this one im loving all your characters , and story lines, i can”t wait to read more. Thank you

      • Thanks for all your comments don70! Am glad you and others enjoy reading about these characters and am happy you find the different storylines they inhabit interesting. Please do continue to let me know your thoughts as this story progresses – based on actual places and people – as we explore what it means to love, and be stripped bare even if fully-clothed, before another.

    4. Genuine art has the power to strengthen the spirit of the people.
I loved Rian lecture, I applaud the end of the lecture.
And please do not let Tina looks at this Kaci, from what I read,
      I realized, it will happen.
      The complete constellation.
