Love in Control – Chapter VIII – Will You Marry Me?

“Hush with the poppycock lines, Devin,” she purred in response to the hipster’s cajoling now, feeling more confident with every passing minute that this game of “catch-and-release” was right up her alley, incredibly enough.   “If you really wanted to end up with me tonight, there would be no question about the circumstances.”

He groaned as he left slowly, walking backward. “My friend’s the buzzkill, ok?  Not me. I could happily go on trying to wear down your defenses with debates about Continental Philosophy.”

He mouthed “call me, please?” holding a thumb to his ear and his pinky to his mouth. She waved him away with a light laugh.

This is working out much better than I thought it would. Maybe Bette was right.  Juicing things up with Jade by playing this role while her girlfriend watched would feel incredibly sexy….

She glanced at a table tucked in a corner on the other side of the long bar. Even before Rian’s role play had started, Jade had texted that she’d run into someone she’d briefly dated.   At first, Rian hadn’t felt anything much about that, knowing her shy girlfriend would probably wait for the right moment before shipping that old college acquaintance off.

Rian could see though that Jade had been joined by more girls, instead of sitting alone in that table, as Rian had thought Jade would be doing by now. Who’s playing the seductress here? she asked herself, annoyed by the sight of scantily clad girls vying for her blonde stud’s attention.

Maybe I should change things up and take things upstairs. The third floor of the bar was the acknowledged edge this bar had over all the other new bars – an open-deck, palm-fringed 12,000 feet of wrap-around unparalleled views of Central Park on one side and the midtown skyline on the other side.  Given that the bar opened without fanfare, relying instead on word-of-mouth, it traded on its exclusivity to lure people in, as well as its “sexy bar” rep – the handmade, one-of-a-kind cocktails, seductive, glamorous ambience, the priceless views of the open-deck level –its regulars thought they could keep the place, the third level, in particular, a secret they could keep to themselves for a few months at least, including the exclusive Dom Perignon Rose’ that you could only order by the bottle.

    1. Oh, that was absolute worth the long wait!

Fantastic and sexy chapter, wouldn’t mind if you write more B&T in your story.

But Rian and Jade captured my heart, they are a great couple.

      Thanks for the update!

    2. You can be sure that yes, it was worth the wait
      for another fantastic chapter!
My heart always Tibette, however Jade and Rian captivated me.
      The whole universe

    3. Hello everyone. Thanks for taking the time to comment. A few caveats: the story arc for “Love In Control” will not have much Bette/Tina romance, although there will be occasional scenes. Their story is evolving in this book — the evolution will see them in a family unit, rather than as a couple. This particular arc started with scenes in earlier chapters, and will be more central in the next chapters. I think I’ve gone over their romance (exhaustively) in the other books already, anyway, and I really don’t have much more to say about “Tibette” than what I’ve already written in the other books.

I sense that it’s time that they evolve and mature in my stories, as characters, otherwise, their story arc will not make much sense if they remain struck in TiBette-land (at least in my storyline). To be perfectly honest, an evolving, maturing Bette/Tina, in the way I’ve been writing about them, is infinitely more interesting for me to write. I can sense them growing, and it seems to be as part of a family unit: this evolution is more authentic and important in this book than “TiBette.” it’s the other couples, in the meantime, who will be developing their own romances.

In the end this book is about a few kinds of love, what they mean, etc., but make no mistake the evolving Bette/Tina take on love remains the central/anchoring one for this book, particularly as things take a turn in the next chapters.

i may disappoint many of the readers who take the time to click through the pages of this story … I hope they will understand that I really can’t write a story if it’s not something I believe in or can stand behind, or would even want to read myself. I have moved on, and have explored the limits of that particular time in their lives through several books already, and so have the Bette and Tina characters in my storylines. They are different now from who they were in the TiBette version of the earlier books from who they seem to be growing into —

maybe I should re-classify this book to another fandom, different from “L Word” even if Bette and Tina and their family are central characters?

I seem to be raising expectations by slotting this book under “L Word.” And that’s not fair to you, the readers.

    4. While Bette and Tina originally attracted me to your writing, your Jade/Rain and Aerin/Harley characters have captivated me. Their unexplored characters are ripe with endless plot lines. Don’t apologize for the lack of TiBette romance, as your other characters and your writing are rich enough to sustain my appetite for a romantic escape.
