Love in Control – Chapter VIII – Will You Marry Me?

Rian rose from her table to make sure Jade could see her over the tops of the heads of those annoying girls, pausing for a moment to banter further with the two (clueless) guys who’d been latching onto her every word. Good!  her girlfriend had seen her.  She took her time making her way to the innocuous archway that led to the stairs that led to the third floor, swaying her hips from side to side, knowing her girlfriend was taking in the show, too. Those bitches better keep their hands off my girlfriend!

Once they’d gotten there, Callan and Pat ordered a bottle of the Dom Perignon Rose the waiter recommended they share. “The view is amazing from here, Nikki!  But not as beautiful as you are …” Callan tried to affect a smoothness he’d used on easy-to-please girls back in London.  Rian ignored him, and gave Pat a small smile instead.  The waiter returned with the chilled bottle of Rose’ and set up an ice-filled bucket on a stand next to them, saving Callan from having to fill the pointed silence from Rian.

With gallant flourish, Callan tried again, and filled a flute for Rian and handed it to her. This time, she gave him a small smile also as she clinked her glass against his while Pat poured himself a flute of the decadent Rose’.

She took a slow drag of the smooth bubbly. “That may be so, Callan, but, as I told you earlier, I’m not looking to take this any further tonight.”

Callan ran his fingers through short, spiky hair. The intent to take her elsewhere lingered in his eyes.  Silently, their eyes dueled.  In the weighty silence, Rian casually sipped on the Rose’.  Her eyes continued to tease him over the rim of the flute. This is too easy! His widened in expectation.

“Mmmm … this Rose is fantastic, don’t you think?!” she exclaimed suddenly, with a throaty chuckle, then finished her drink off. She surreptitiously shrugged off the hand Callan had tried to casually lay on her arm.

“He’s never taken no for answer, let me warn you, Nikki,” Pat jumped in.   Younger, less suave, he was used to playing Robin to his friend’s Batman, it looked like.  “You’re right!  This is a great drink.”  He grinned at her with adoring, puppy-dog eyes.

    1. Oh, that was absolute worth the long wait!

Fantastic and sexy chapter, wouldn’t mind if you write more B&T in your story.

But Rian and Jade captured my heart, they are a great couple.

      Thanks for the update!

    2. You can be sure that yes, it was worth the wait
      for another fantastic chapter!
My heart always Tibette, however Jade and Rian captivated me.
      The whole universe

    3. Hello everyone. Thanks for taking the time to comment. A few caveats: the story arc for “Love In Control” will not have much Bette/Tina romance, although there will be occasional scenes. Their story is evolving in this book — the evolution will see them in a family unit, rather than as a couple. This particular arc started with scenes in earlier chapters, and will be more central in the next chapters. I think I’ve gone over their romance (exhaustively) in the other books already, anyway, and I really don’t have much more to say about “Tibette” than what I’ve already written in the other books.

I sense that it’s time that they evolve and mature in my stories, as characters, otherwise, their story arc will not make much sense if they remain struck in TiBette-land (at least in my storyline). To be perfectly honest, an evolving, maturing Bette/Tina, in the way I’ve been writing about them, is infinitely more interesting for me to write. I can sense them growing, and it seems to be as part of a family unit: this evolution is more authentic and important in this book than “TiBette.” it’s the other couples, in the meantime, who will be developing their own romances.

In the end this book is about a few kinds of love, what they mean, etc., but make no mistake the evolving Bette/Tina take on love remains the central/anchoring one for this book, particularly as things take a turn in the next chapters.

i may disappoint many of the readers who take the time to click through the pages of this story … I hope they will understand that I really can’t write a story if it’s not something I believe in or can stand behind, or would even want to read myself. I have moved on, and have explored the limits of that particular time in their lives through several books already, and so have the Bette and Tina characters in my storylines. They are different now from who they were in the TiBette version of the earlier books from who they seem to be growing into —

maybe I should re-classify this book to another fandom, different from “L Word” even if Bette and Tina and their family are central characters?

I seem to be raising expectations by slotting this book under “L Word.” And that’s not fair to you, the readers.

    4. While Bette and Tina originally attracted me to your writing, your Jade/Rain and Aerin/Harley characters have captivated me. Their unexplored characters are ripe with endless plot lines. Don’t apologize for the lack of TiBette romance, as your other characters and your writing are rich enough to sustain my appetite for a romantic escape.
