Love in Control – Chapter X – Millenial’s Kiss (Part Two)

“Did you battle a shark, or something like that also?” Rachel asked softly, after a beat.

Bette shook her head quickly. “No, no, no. But there were things I went through.  Injuries and stuff. Got through it all with Tina’s help. Couldn’t have done so, without her. So I was really lucky, in so many ways, that I had Tina. It was a lot of work, though, with Dan, to break through a kind of inner paralysis, and I realized I had to confront these dark fears, be willing to go to my deepest anxieties, not only for my sake, but for Tina’s, too …”

Rachel nodded, and cut in softly, “Tina, told me some of what had happened to you, Bette. I’m sorry for asking. Of course. Shouldn’t have prodded you there.”

“No, no, no need to say sorry, please…”

Rian’s teasing voice pulled them back, “… and of course, we’d have to have the same test in women!”

“You mean tall, dark-haired, broad-shouldered and ripped, good-looking studs in their 20s with mesmerizing eyes?” Jia jabbed back with a rueful grin.

    “Uh-huh. Mine’s blonde now, though.”

    “Still cute, I bet.”

“You can’t imagine. They get yummier through the years, believe it or not.”

    Jia pretended to groan.

“Then they get really hot …” Rian gave her an exaggerated wink and threw in a knowing smile.

Jia sighed audibly. “Not sure that Tiler’ll ever be mine, though …”

As they went back and forth like this, Bette’s phone rang, and she stepped away, motioning to Rachel that she was taking the call.

After nodding quickly, Rachel moved closer to Rian and Jia, since Lea was also standing away from the group, in the middle of a text exchange. Rachel cut into their conversation, which now concerned Jia’s doubts about not being Tiler’s type, given how quickly the dark-haired stud had somehow faded from the scene earlier, before disappearing altogether with Tina and the kids. “I wouldn’t be so sure,” Rachel burst in.

Rian and Jia looked at her simultaneously in surprise. “Not sure about what?” Rian asked.

“Not sure that Tiler’s not interested, nor that she could be anyone’s. She’s not really been over the moon about anyone, since I’ve known her.”

A disappointed look passed quickly over Jia’s face.

    1. What a nice surprise!

I missed this story and it has been a while but I truly enjoyed reading this chapter.

I look forward to the next update!

      Thank you for coming back!

    2. Happy New Year, Sky. What a great surprise to brighten a rainy day! Since the site has been slow lately, I was rereading your earlier posts. Thanks for posting.

    3. Hello! Happy New Year, too! It’s the year of the Rooster, and I’m told that it’s a year for love, but one shouldn’t be embarking on risky or new things (in love or with other things). It seems that this year, the advice is to stick to the tried-and-true. I dunno: sometimes that works. Sometimes it doesn’t. Anyway, by any measure, this will be an extraordinary year; it already has been full of surprises. Risky and new are kinda “baked-in” already. But there’s always room for love, right? Especially if the alternative is …. no love. Now, that’s just a sad world. Who wants to live in a sad world, huh? I have a feeling I’ll be writing more. If only to re-produce the moments of love this year that I’ll want to hang on to for just a bit longer. Be well, ladies!
