Love in Control – Chapter X – Millenial’s Kiss (Part Two)

Rian shot Rachel a look as Rachel hurriedly added, “But that can change in a hurry if the right one comes along. I’m pretty sure she’ll be secretly thrilled if you ask her to join us …”

Jia frowned a little as an uncertain look replaced the downcast one. “You think she’ll join us?”

“Most def,” Rachel answered quickly, as she and Rian nodded simultaneously. “You probably didn’t catch this, but she was clocking you the moment you went through the revolving doors, hot stuff …”

Bette had been on her phone in the meantime, and had stepped away to apparently exchange text with someone. She piped up now, “Lea, I was just thinking – do you remember Logan mentioning during the lunch the other day – that we could meet up with him and his friend Matt? Logan said he’d be emailing us about that?”

Lea moved closer to Bette. “Uh huh. Matter of fact he called me earlier today – he’d tried to reach you first but he said he only got your voicemail – that he was asking about dinner over at Peter Luger’s tonight because Matt’s in town now, and could return to New York over the upcoming long weekend, with his lawyer, to wrap up negotiations over the sale of his oil and gas interests to those investors….”

Bette’s face lit up. “Wait a second, let me tell Aerin ….”

As she tapped out a text to Aerin, she continued without looking up, “The dinner gives us a chance to talk a bit more with Matt and Logan about getting together with a few other people Logan said he’d invite to a barbecue in the Hamptons, right? See if we could plan out a few more details about that fund to finance climate change research? The one everybody’s been calling everybody else in the foundation world about…”

After she hit “send,” she looked up and smiled at Rian, Rachel, and Jia, who were all looking at her quizzically. “We’ll be planning a barbecue for the long weekend with Logan. You interested in joining? We could all see off the last of this good weather out in the Hamptons. Can’t do better than that, right?  Sea and sky, plus nobody does a barbecue like Logan. And his booze is the best…”

    1. What a nice surprise!

I missed this story and it has been a while but I truly enjoyed reading this chapter.

I look forward to the next update!

      Thank you for coming back!

    2. Happy New Year, Sky. What a great surprise to brighten a rainy day! Since the site has been slow lately, I was rereading your earlier posts. Thanks for posting.

    3. Hello! Happy New Year, too! It’s the year of the Rooster, and I’m told that it’s a year for love, but one shouldn’t be embarking on risky or new things (in love or with other things). It seems that this year, the advice is to stick to the tried-and-true. I dunno: sometimes that works. Sometimes it doesn’t. Anyway, by any measure, this will be an extraordinary year; it already has been full of surprises. Risky and new are kinda “baked-in” already. But there’s always room for love, right? Especially if the alternative is …. no love. Now, that’s just a sad world. Who wants to live in a sad world, huh? I have a feeling I’ll be writing more. If only to re-produce the moments of love this year that I’ll want to hang on to for just a bit longer. Be well, ladies!
