Alice stood waiting watching everybody come through the doors of arrivals. She couldn’t contain her excitement.
“CARMEN!”
Carmen looked to her right and saw Alice waving manically, she laughed and waved back heading over to both Bette and Al.
“Hey guys. Thanks for picking me up”
“No problem, just glad your home” Alice threw her arms around her and pulled her into a tight hug.
“Same here Alice, but squeeze me any tighter and I won’t be home”
Bette laughed pulling Alice off of Carmen
“I’m just excited to see you.”
“I know. Lets go home”

As Carmen walked arm in arm with Alice Bette asked the question that had been playing heavily on her mind.
“So where are you staying, cause you know… there isn’t… umm any space at Jenny’s”
Carmen nodded her head “Yeah I know, I rang around a few places when I found out because I didn’t want to stay at my mother’s. It is just too far so I rang around and found an apartment.”
“That’s good. Is it close to us?” Alice asked
“Yeah actually, I’ve got a lease for an apartment in your block Al, the floor above. I have to go over and sign some paper work then I can move in straight away.”
If it was possible Alice’s smile got wider and brighter “You’re moving in to my apartment block?”
“Yeah I am.”
“How cool is that- I have a neighbor I know!!!! Let’s get going neighbor!”

“So Shay how was your day?”
“It was okay. How come you didn’t pick me up?”
Shane sighed and ran a shaky hand through her hair. “I’ve had a long day Shay please don’t moan.”
“I’m not I was just asking”
“I had a lot of customers to get through. They just kept turning up.”
“Oh okay. So where are we going?” he asked as he looked out the car window.
Shane tapped on the steering wheel. “I left some of my things at Alice’s a while ago and I just thought I would go and pick them up before I forget and she sells them”
Shay laughed “We’d better hurry then”
Shane grinned temporally forgetting the mood she was in.

“So does your family know your back?” Bette asked from the back of the car.
Carmen nodded turning around in her seat “Yeah, I have to go visit them next week. I’m really busy this week getting everything up and organized. Getting flyers out, interviewing perspective DJ’s. Its all a mad go.”
“But something you have wanted”
Carmen grinned “Definitely”

“So” Alice begin not quite sure how to ask.
Carmen turned to look at Al “So?”
“Ummm”
“Just ask Alice, ask me anything”
“How come Amanda didn’t come with you?”
Carmen sighed turning her head to look out of the window “She has gone back to Atlanta. She got a new job, a promotion like me, but with a different company. They were impressed by the work she had done for the club and asked her to join them with bigger incentives.”
“You still together?”
Carmen grinned at her “You love asking these questions don’t you? But to answer, no we are not together. Long distance relationships don’t work. And she was running from someone like me”.
Alice looked in the rearview mirror raising her eyebrows at Bette in the back.
“So about Shane?”

“Alice, I don’t want to talk about it at the moment. I’ve just got home, I really want to get back and relax and work on my career”
Alice nodded her head staring intently at the road in front of her “Okay as you wish. But sooner or later you will have to speak to her”.
